Sure, pigging, testing welds, periodically inspecting for leaks, cathodic protection to prevent rust, pressure monitoring, maintenance on compressors and safety inspections of the compressors, regulator stations, pipeline heaters, line watches and inspecting for any working/digging or encroachment that could damage the facilities, odorization of the gas, relief inspections to prevent over pressure. They could easily negotiate and ensure safety precautions but they are treating this in simplistic terms (Fossil Fuel = bad) instead of doing an analysis and seeing where we gain and where we lose in CO2 emissions.
