The black family was stable and black unemployment was comparable to whites up until the so called War on Poverty that was started by liberals like the OP. Thomas Sowell had a piece on it where he broke the numbers down. Most economists agree that the entirety if not most of the War on Poverty was an abysmal failure. No other single group has received so much benevolent help from the racist left than blacks and no other groups has imploded as well. Asians, blacks from outside the US (Africa or the Caribbean), Indians from India, Middle Easterners and so on have no problems succeeding in this country even though they have almost no assistance from the government, some don't even speak English as their native tongue if at all and yet they manage to outperform native born Americans including whites in education and income out to three generations.
It will be a long, long time before Brown-skinned people are ready to take the reins of political power. I don't think Blacks are too worried about them.

Blacks are at the bottom of the economic ladder and the education ladder and at the top of the crime, abortion and single mothers categories. Cities with large black populations like Milwaukee, where I live, are heavily segregated. Asians, Middle Easterners, Indians and Africans (from Africa not native born ones) manage to excel and thrive in this country. Thus no one can argue that genetics or race has any bearing on someone's success. What has been a constant is that Democrats control virtually all the local and municipal government functions of large black populations in the county (including the South so don't even bother trying to blame that on the GOP either). They have had uncontested control for 50 years now and as a result we have a completely dysfunctional black community. What (*)(*)(*)(*)ing liberals have done is horrific, despicable, reprehensible and yet liberals have the balls to blame people like me for what THEY did to the black community. Liberals can go (*)(*)(*)(*) themselves. A perfect example is school choice. MPS is the second worst public school system in the entire nation. The GOP in Wisconsin starting under Thompson aggressively pushed school choice through to allow kids in the inner city to go to better schools. It has been shown in several studies now that school choice is a net positive and in fact MPS even improved slightly from the competition. The Democrats and the (*)(*)(*)(*) sucking teachers unions have been fighting tooth and nail against the voucher programs because they care more about their union jobs and their donations than they do about the actual kids. Actually from that graph it looks like they are improving quite nicely. The children of immigrants are getting college education and keep in mind that it is much more difficult for an immigrant to get a college degree simply because they are not citizens and thus don't qualify for tuition assistance. They are increasing in home ownership and they are going down in regards to the number in or near poverty. The Irish didn't instantly wake up one day and find out that they were on par with the older European immigrants in regards to economics etc. It took a bit but it did happen. You must have misread the graph as it clearly shows third+ generation Hispanics have lower college attendance than 2nd generation Hispanics. Hispanic welfare rate and unemployment is only marginally better than Black.

If it doesn't include illegal workers then the unemployment numbers are actually lower since they are missing an entire data set. I never got the stereotype about the lazy Mexican. They often worked multiple (*)(*)(*)(*)ty jobs to support their families at least in my area where I grew up.
