BREAKING: Bolton to Claim Trump Held Up Ukraine Military Aid Over Biden Investigations

They DID. They subpoeaed a number of witnesses.

Trump demanded that these witnesses defy the subpoenas.

Beyond that, trials have witnesses. And, this is a trial.

Today, Republicans are saying that key witnesses weren't called.

THEN they say that they won't allow key witnesses to be called.

These are our representatives saying this kind of crap!

The obstruction of justice by Trump is one of the articles of impeachment, by the way. So, his acts in defying congress are first person EVIDENCE we have ALL seen over and over and over again.

 

The senate is the Judge, have you ever heard of a judge calling a witness? Bottom line the BS that we didn't have time to call them but you should is dumber than dumb. Bottom line the House f'd up by rushing and now are calling fowl for running a sham because they impeached the President without letting the COURT decide if certain witnesses violated his PRESIDENTIAL RIGHTS. You don't get to go around the courts, every citizen knows this deep down but the partisan hacks sure want to play KINGS.

 

Just like Biden didn't want witnesses during the Clinton impeachment. Your party had 17 witnesses in the House vs. 0 GOP ones. Why didn't they call for Bolton to testify in the House? Why won't Schiff allow the WB to testify, and why isn't he revealing the Atkinson IG report? Why were the witnesses the GOP wanted in the House denied to them?

LOL, you don't impeach a POTUS for using his Exec Priv rights. Congress isn't above the law. According to the President's defense, the subpoenas were illegal because they were made before the House voted for impeachment, when they finally did they didn't retroactively OK the prior subpoenas. Heck, George Washington ignored a House subpoena.

The whistleblower is off limits BY US LAW on federal whistleblowers. Moaning about that is not a good reflection on YOU.

People have been able to ask questions of Schiff on the Senate floor for days.

There is no evidence that Bidens have been involved in any illegal activity. There are no meaningful questions to ask of them regarding the impeachment issues. This is no more than Republicans trying to turn this into a circus by continuing to try to smear a presidential candidate.

If there were something illegal about the Bidens, Barr could have investigated any time he wanted to. In fact, he tried hard to do that - and FAILED.

 

Yes, judges don't usually call witnesses.

However, the Trump defense team is free to call witnesses.

That's not obstruction and has been debated. They merely had to reissue the subpoenas to which they refused because of their christmas deadline. You should really get caught up.

Congress has oversight responsibilities that include investigating the executive branch.

Trump has denied that fundamental element of our system of checks and balances.

Today, Republicans are removing those checks and balances.

The result is that the US executive branch and all its executive power of investigation, foreign policy, spending, affects on elections, etc. will no longer be checked by contress, as intended by our founders.

That is FRIGHTENING. And NOT because of Trump.

That's total BS. There is no reason to require multiple submissions of subpoenas. If one can be ignored, then all subsequent ones may also be ignored.

And, the idea that ignoring every subpoena and threatening staff should they consider taking the proper legal steps isn't obstruction of justice is just plain stupid.

If that isn't obstruction, then ABSOLUTELY NOTHING is obstruction.

Then-national security adviser John Bolton was so disturbed by the efforts to get the Ukrainians to investigate President Donald Trump’s political opponents that he called it a “drug deal,” former White House official Fiona Hill reportedly told Congress on Monday.

Hill, the former top Europe expert in Trump’s White House, testified that Bolton told her over the summer that he wanted no part of the effort, which he said involved acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, a person in the room for Hill’s testimony told NBC News.

 

First, they very clearly have enough evidence.

Second, going through the courts would take significant time. Trump could offer various excuses and otherwise complicate the case. The SC could require it to go through a lower court first, as they rarely render opinions on cases that have not gone through lower courts.

There is a coming election and everyone agrees that it's better if the impeachment is completed in a reasonably timely manner.

The idea that we can have a case of this import with Trump's defense including that we can't have witnesses is nothing short of shocking.

It makes the entire process a joke.
