It would be nice if you could be honest in recounting what I had said, but it would be expecting too much.
You decide to jump from the fact that "Margot" (with whom I often differ) has described my comment as "astute", to claiming all sorts of things about her. I fully understand now why you are a Trump follower!

    The Perfect Storm

    And then, there's this:
Moments after President Trump ended his phone call with Ukraine’s president on July 25, an unsettled national security aide rushed to the office of White House lawyer John Eisenberg.

Army Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, the top Ukraine adviser at the White House, had been listening to the call and was disturbed by the pressure Trump had applied to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate his political rivals, according to people familiar with Vindman’s testimony to lawmakers this week.

Vindman told Eisenberg, the White House’s legal adviser on national security issues, that what the president did was wrong, said the people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation.

Scribbling notes on a yellow legal pad, Eisenberg proposed a step that other officials have said is at odds with long-standing White House protocol: moving a transcript of the call to a highly classified server and restricting access to it, according to two people familiar with Vindman’s account.

Crime and cover-up. I'm starting to believe Trump was right for once in his life.
    It was the "perfect" conversation...

Prior to this you cited Russia.

Of course its the most credible-the US made the strike and is now reporting about it.

My disagreement with you was over when bombs were dropped.

Why destroy everything first (bombs on target), when we could obtain intelligence, baghdadi DNA, etc FIRST?

It made no sense and I hope you, "Iranian monitor" can grasp that.

Things happen for reasons old boy.

If you know why and how you know more than others.

I don't recall citing Russia, but maybe you can refer me to the post you are talking about? At least on this issue, I had cited a branch of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (owned and operated by the US government), quoting Syrian sources including the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights - a group that worked with Western governments and wasn't even pro Assad by any stretch of the imagination (they usually peddled most of the anti-Assad propaganda).
Since I found the account generally credible, no need to quibble about it. But just because the US made the strike doesn't mean anything the US says about it is credible.
Although I can't be sure, my view based on the reports from the ground is that the "engagement" to take out the 5 ISIS fighters included air support and bombing. The picture of the subsequent bombing after the raid in the military briefing suggests to me that compound was already bombed. And nothing was shown nor any details presented about the engagement itself.
While the US would have an interest in collecting data, its first priority would be to take out Baghdadi and ISIS with minimum casualties. Something that would be helped by air support. That doesn't mean, however, that such air support would have to burn the place down in its entirety. Based on the briefing, and what was shown, it is obvious to me that the extent of damage to the compound (leaving pretty much nothing standing) was due to the bombing after the raid, but also that the compound had already been bombed during the engagement as the photo/video of the bombing didn't show much of the compound standing before it was bombed again.

In any case, I am not sure this is worth an extended debate as it is mostly a detail about which there isn't enough evidence for me to be sure either way.

You don't have to live somewhere to know if the place is a shithole or not. Your silly questionning of others is just that silly. Beside, this is the internet. Anybody can be anything they want to present themselves, it still doesn't make it true.

Do you know this from 1st hand experience? How much time have you spent in Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, etc? Or is your opinion based solely on media coverage of the region?

I can read... I know Iran itself was becoming moderate before we installed the Shah all to protect BP's interests.
I know Libya and Syria as far as Muslims countries go allowed different levels of religious freedom.
    I know we radicalized Afghanistan.
I know we support KSA as a hedge against Iran and KSA supports terrorism. Never mind the **** they are pulling in Yemen and Bahrain ( of course we have a naval base in Bahrain so we look the other way)

Lived or experienced? My best advice, if you're American, Christian or Jewish then you don't even want to visit the ME.

Your contempt for Obama is unjustified. Like all presidents he made many mistakes, but ordering the raid on Osama Bin Laden's base was not an error.
