Well, this is the Middle East 1,000 years ago.

As for Al-Qaida in Iraq, I didn't even need to mention that they are the same terrorist group as ISIS/Organization of Monotheism and Jihad, you've already acknowledged that yourself. They are in fact the same terrorist organization, we never declared war on ISIS, or acknowledged them as a state. Formally speaking, our conflict with them is a military police action against a select list of terrorist organisations, which we added them to the list of targeted terrorist groups back in 2004 and have been fighting them based on that military authorization ever since. The US government actually never designated them a terrorist organization a second time under the name "ISIS", we're fighting them under the same authorization from 2004

Al-Qaida in Iraq has about the same relationship to ISIS as the Muslim Brotherhood has to Al-Qaeda. They are related precursor organizations but they are not the same.
