The United Kingdom defended the actions of the Trump administration in Iran, saying the United States is “entitled to defend itself” against Iranian aggression and deploying the Royal Navy to the Persian Gulf to protect shipping vessels flying the British flag.

The Secretary of State for Defence, Ben Wallace, expressed support for America’s decision to take out Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Qasem Soleimani, citing the violence committed in Iraq by Iran-backed militias.

Glad to see the Brits stepping up and defending their interests.

    Japan is doing the same.

Iran needs to think real hard about its terrorist activities.

sending a few ships out to the persian gulf is far better than losing Canada, kudos to the Brits.

On what do you base this? What makes you think the British ships won't enter the Gulf, or do their part to defend shipping in the Gulf?

Boris has to act subservient to Trump in order to ensure good terms in any future trade negotiations with the US.
This is what ''taking back control'' is going to look like.

Trump finally drew a line and now everyone is going to have to pick a side to stand on.

Britain picked theirs as did Japan....still waiting on the rest of the world to choose.

Raab has though claimed the UK will not join Trump in the destruction of the 52 cultural sites.

They are also claiming they want it de-escalated. To some extent it appears as just words for the reason you give.

Britain used to be the head of the world and would dictate the terms of power brokering now that the US has taken that role we shall see no difference in world geopolitics.

I would hope not as that would be a war crime.
Military targets are the only legitimate targets.
It would be an act of terrorism no different from ISIS blowing up historic sites in Syria.

Means everything as we now have "legal basis" per Panetta and Trump can go to congress after the fact and notify them.

I warned about this when Panetta testified to this and warned it will be used by someone Progressives dont like and i was laughed at..

Seems yet again i was right.
