British kayak adventurer slain in Brazil's Amazon

Passports are for people who don't care that every one of their air miles brings us closer to worldwide environmental death.

 

There's little chance of me catching two shotgun blasts sitting on the couch compared to flying to the South American jungle to kayak. I could do that here, even with less "exotic" people around.

 

I just finished a pop novel from a few years back, got at a book sale, part polemic, on this very phenomenon. "The Beach," by Alex Garland. Subtle but unmistakably critical of what you are describing. Something of a "Trainspotting" for the backpack addicted set seeking "the new sensation." While reading it, I noted, not an untraveled person, that the walks through the woods in my hometown are just as satisfying as any "exotica" I've ever experienced.

Would that I could go back in time and give myself then a single paragraph of advice. Would give similar to the victim in this case.

 

Conservatives and their ideology would have kept this woman from being killed. I bet you would have given her a "you go girl!" when she told you her plans.

You think this woman lived a life of a lion? She was a middle aged, childless, lonely person who quit her boring day job to chase after a lifestyle she probably read about some person living at some point. And then she was violently murdered. I view her as a casualty of leftism.

 

She probably would have been fine traveling to a European country, Canada, most areas of the US, etc.

 

Brazil is what the US will be after the left's demographic plan is finished. We won't be Singapore, we'd be Brazil.

I don't fly anymore (it's bad for the environment .. but hipsters don't care because their street cred is more important than their lip serviced environmentalism), yet manage to engage in challenging wilderness 'adventures' close to home.

 

It's the left wing attraction to be reborn through "the new". Read my signature. Liberalism promises a never ending adolescence, a period when most people look back and remember how new and exciting everything was. There's a reason "change" was such a big part of Obamas campaign. He tapped into this desire.

She was an overgrown adolescent, and died the pointless death of the hubristic adolescent.

Had she not been the spoiled brat that she was, she could be alive and well today, kayaking her local rivers with friends, and returning home to the unconditional love, laughter, and conversation that a family gives.

 

Statistically, she was more likely to be killed by a drunk driver in the US than a terrorist in Brazil.

As a progressive, I have disabled signatures. I don't think mid-life crisis behavior is exclusive of liberalism though.

 

They seem to have a really strong desire to show off to each other . It wouldn't be enough to Kayak in her own country, or someplace safe. She had to have a story of "danger" to tell to her likeminded friends.
