You can sue for just about anything, including sexual harassment. We don't need speech laws like North Korea.

It might be harassment if you were a Male and someone called you something else. This isn't really the same thing as NOT being a Male but expecting people to pretend you are.

No one has any obligation to play along with your imagination.

Don't you Antifa types think these speech laws are great?

If California left the USA, then we could reduce the welfare state.

This isn't a speech law. It's a harassment law. I personally think they should just amend any existing harassment laws to include misgendering, but if you can understand not wanting to be referred to as the wrong gender then maybe you can at least understand the motivation behind this law.

It would be very, very easy to make that same argument about harassment regarding religion. Are you okay with religious harassment from authority figures?

Any labeling can be offensive. You don't have the right to not be offended. Maybe Cali can pass a bill.

Sure it is. If you look like a Ford Pinto don't be offended if no one calls you a Ferrari.

No, it really would have nothing to do with this at all. Lets not run from the subject we can't rationally defend to something else please.

Why should anyone call a "not Male" a Male??

Wait, are you saying that they call me something other than established and accepted terms referring to my scientifically assigned gender? Why would they do that? You are asking someone to change the language based upon the subjective perception of a minute minority. That is ridiculous. Perhaps, this law will actually alienate the folks that wish for it's implementation.

there is zero meaning to any bill that has not been voted out of a committee because it does not measure ANY support beyond the one elected character who shoved it in the hopper for introduction. You can't determine more about a bill that gets scheduled for a hearing in the committee because that just means the committee chairman does not want to insult the member by totally snubbing the 'bill'. Even if the committee votes a work session on a bad bill, it could well mean they want to strip it, and use it to accomplish something very different, Wait until a bill gets voted out of committee and assigned a floor reading before deciding the existence of the idea measures anything about anyone beyond a basic curtesy to a colleague who's vote someone might need next Tuesday.

In other words, stop using the headlines about some bill introduced in any one of fifty state legislatures by any one of thousands of legislators to bash an ideology or party. Its really stupid.

Check it out. It's yet another conservative group-weeping thread, complete with threats of civil war that they all so fervently wish someone else would fight for them.

That's all the conservative victimhood cult is capable of these days. If they don't have a good cry 12 times a day, they get withdrawal shakes.

And to think conservatives actually wonder why the whole planet laughs at them.

What about the n word? Shouldn't you go to jail for that too? What else will become "illegal" to say?

    A speech law supporter.

I'm offended you keep calling us cry baby's. You should go to jail for a year.

If you don't think the collective is chomping at the bit to pass speech laws, you're delusional.

If California leaves the USA along with its 55 electoral votes, the Democratic party is doomed.

I don't understand this law, but I understand the offense from being called something you aren't as long as you aren't attempting to disguise what you are.

I agree. Now, righties want to make it a capital offense to criticize the Confederacy. Conservatives always had a strong streak of fascism before, but now they've all gone full metal fascist lately.

The two sides are totally differently. Liberals consistently support freedom and democracy, conservatives consistently support violence and fascism.
