If we could have tested anyone with cold/flu symptoms already in early Feb., we would have found the early cases, isolated them, and would be in a much better position now. Mass testing is how South Korea is keeping their outbreak somewhat under control.

 

There are plenty of PPE's around here-Im not seeing a shortage of equipment in hospital.

I beg your pardon, but unless you've been on another planet for three and a half years, Trump has always linked his performance as President to the stock markets.

For the next 8 months, Trumpsters will have the thankless task of explaining to the vast majority of Americans that Trump responded very well to the pandemic despite the sudden and catastrophic recession.

And you just carried it all over the damn place getting to the hospital instead of just staying in your house.

There's no way for them to treat it, and the only reason you'd need to go to the hospital is if it got really bad.

Telling people to go get tested means everyone with a communicable disease (i.e 200,000 flu + 1,000,000 pneumonia per year), are out spreading flu, pneumonia, AND Covid.

Talk about the absolute worst advice in the world to give people who are sick.

Back to the trenches-how does a testing kit change treatment or patient outcomes?

 

Why does it matter if immigrants bring disease into the country.

I mean we already have lots of people passing out diseases in this country already.

Not being calm created the situation. Relax, it will all work out by election day. Even Democrats can't stay in panic for months on end...

 

Trump could have and should have ordered a ramp up of testing weeks ago, ordered a relaxation of the testing protocols, ordered that the CDC should use the WHO testing while it worked on its own, and demanded the creation of a reporting repository so that everyone (regardless of the test they used) could report their results to a single location.

 

Uhhhhh.

 

This is not difficult.

If you have an accurate gauge of the concentration and location of the virus (which you get through widespread testing), then you are able to direct resources to both improve treatment and patient outcomes.

 

If they were keeping track of the people tested and who has it they can identify clusters (like NY has done) and request self quarantine.
They could also contact the people you had contact with to be on the alert or self quarantine.
But your right that ship may have sailed when the tests didn't work and they couldn't produce enough.

 

Yes we should have millions of people currently infected with flu and pneumonia panicking and mixing with people who have Covid 19 so that more than the 14,000 people who normally die from the flu and the 50,000 that normally die from pneumonia also get a good dose of Covid.

That's ****ing genius.

That couldn't possibly be a bad idea.

I mean after you get tested and are found positive, they can give you a pill to make you all better.
