Can I plz get a leg up on referring to images in my posts. I know some basics.

Does anyone know a fairly straightforward means to upload images to a free or cheap server in such a manner that I can end up with individual precise-target URL's to those images, making it feasible for me to link the images in my forum posts?

My cloud that Microsoft provides w/my computer, and other free clouds like Googles, etc allow my material to be shared but the URL provided invokes a short SCRIPT and doesn't point to the image directly. (..and so the forum rejects the URL) Get it? I subscribe to Amazon Prime and I've tried their Amazon AWS thingy and had great great difficulty due to senility and I've aborted because I figured maybe that service creates ONLY scripted access like t'others.

How is it accomplished so I can upload an image -- uh, permanently? -- and get a directly-pointing URL? Oh but I'm sure I ask/expect too much! Any ideas? Thanks bunches.

 

Nope…. I have no suggestions, I’ve just learned from what the platform (site software) has to offer and how it works (or not) with the device I’m using. You need to realize there is no one simple suggestion or answer… there’s so many damn different os’ with varying degrees of compatibility….

 

If you think my local computer's OS has anything to do with it then either you've misread my post or you don't know what you're talking about. I've been working w/computers since I was 16 and now I'm 72. I worked on the earliest of all computers at Tufts University. I've worked on the IBM 1620 and their 1130. I am rightfully certain that my local OS is not germane, in this matter.

I was saying it’s the sites software that must play nicely with yours. It’s not as simple of a fit as you seem to think.

 

Wrong: it's the site's software - the site being the forum here - that must play nicely with the image host. When I give over my image to a host it gives me back a URL. MY computer is out of the loop after that!

I am new here, but not new to various site software and interaction with them.

I liked vBulliten and cut my teeth on that. Then came XenForo with Brivium add-ons… They all can and are tweeted to the admins preferences, but are easy enough to navigate and even post pics…. unless there’s a problem on your end. Be it lack of brain power or your OS…

 

Well then you have helped me out. I cut my teeth on software but have fallen out since about 1981 and now it's worse because of my advanced age and loss of acuity. Just to be clear, I should take my image uploading concerns to the Moderators, at the next sub-forum down (the one marked "Private") within this grouping ; and one of them will thence clue me in to a free app that is capable of the task I want???

But, yes about asking mods…. as far as I know they will help.

 

Clearly you have lots of social savvy. Though I hereby request that you indicate your birthdate-birthplace-birthtime on your Profile or at least a clue as to your Generation ID, so as to better facilitate understanding with the myriad varietal assembly found here. I dunno. Do not trust me farther than you can throw me.

There’s an art to reading me,… to know when I’m serious or not…. It’s why my username fits….

 

I just use safari to google search and then copy the pic and open the link to copy that

 

Not many mods and they are usually pretty stretched

Hey great! I was being too erudite or something ..and never realized I can paste a pic directly into a post and it will automatically be uploaded and stored by the fine folks at the forum . Geez, I'm grateful and geez ..problem solved.

Yep mate you can also use the picture icon at the top of the reply box but it doesn’t always work for the iPad.
