Hillary wanted her own e-mail server because she was around when the government servers were set up. She KNEW that if she was to keep anything truly secret, she could not run her correspondence through State Dept. servers.

It's just a theory, but I believe every major actor on the planet gets our official e-mails in next to real time.

I believe old snake eyes, James Carville. Close friend and political strategist for Bill Clinton. He stated that Hillary Clinton set up her own server to keep her e-mails from the Republicans.

For your consideration I present Linda Tripp a Bush administration appointee whose angst over her removal from the White House led to her involvement in Knobbergate.

Clinton 45 had good reason to believe any personal correspondence on government controlled computer systems would become public because of someone like Tripp and regulations forbade firing all of them.

    Private servers are hacked.

    Government servers are hacked.

Some geek convinced somebody who is not cyber-savvy that the the former would be less likely to be hacked.

Regarding Clinton's situation, FBI Director James Comey Comey has said that investigators had found no “direct evidence” of a breach by a foreign power or other “hostile actors,” but that does not guarantee that politicians communications on either government or private servers are not being hacked, of course.

What she -knew- is that if she was to keep any graft payments truly secret, she couldn't run her Emails through government servers.

I'm confused? Is this an attempt to defend her recklessness? I mean it is obvious that her having her own (vulnerable) server was at the very least pretty incompetent...correct?

    Flashback:

"As much as I’ve been investigated and all of that, you know, why would I – I don’t even want – why would I ever want to do email?” Clinton said in an exchange June 9, 2000

Sure they have. So too DOD and almost every other government agency. That is on the unclassified side of things. NIPR, but nothing classified is supposed to be on that unclassified network. It physically takes someone either using a thumb drive or CD taking info off SIPR and higher classified networks or retyping the information to put it on NIPR. There is no transfer points or interfaces between the different networks.

This is why at least DOD wide that only unclassified non sensistive information is to be placed on the NIPR network. There is a classification called SBU, that is the same as the old FOUO. It stands for Sensitive but Unclassified and must be sent via SIPR. The old FOUO, For Official Use only was sent UNCLAS EFTO FOUO or unclassified enycrypt for Transmission only for official use only. In other words it had to be sent using encryption devices such as KW's, KY's, KG's, KIV's etc.

DOD has for even NIPR at the point of entry is now utilizing bulk encryption prior to going into the cloud and return to earth so to speak. I don't know about State. But the weakest link as in everything is the human element. Open an unauthorized attachment and viola, a back door as big as a barn is now open to whomever wants in.

You left off the part where he also said it was unlikely that they'd be able to tell if they'd been hacked.

Please note this is almost certainly true if they were just gathering intelligence and not trying to screw things up.

No-------------she was too stupid to understand that with a home brew computer, it was sure to be hacked. The question is------------why did she want a home brew computer. IMO this crooked old witch didnt want anyone to know what she was doing. But then again she was so stupid that she didnt understand that it was sure to be hacked.

Her reasoning is irrelevant, the fact is she knowingly, and purposely disobeyed the law she had sworn to uphold.

She knew her Senate computer was hacked and so, most likely, was her State Dept. computer. Her chances of not being hacked were better with her own computer. People first had to know she HAD her own computer.

The reason you have not and will not see any prominent Democrat put forth this theory, is because it is utterly preposterous and no one with anything to lose would put forth such nonsensical reasoning. LOL....so she decided to go off the encrypted Pentagon system, and instead opted to use her simpleton home server in order to avoid being hacked?....cmon. On top of that, they didn't have to know she had a home server, they only had to know she had a smartphone. Anyone that hacked her smartphone would then have access to her home server.

Makes no sense, and if that were the case, her private server would have had state of the art security, which she could have told us months ago to solve this whole controversy.

Why keep up the totally discredited lie that Hillary's home brew computer wasnt hacked. Do you really believe Hillary believed that her home brew computer was safer and less likely to be hacked than the government run State Dept computer. Then also how do you explain how the Russians hacked the DNC computer. Do your really believe that those two system had less safety than Hillary's own computer. It is reported that Hillary had one computer nerd running her system. How big and how many people over see the DNC and the State Dept computers. To keep up the lie that her computer wasnt hacked by the Russians and who knows who else is a huge joke. It makes anyone that tries to promote this look foolish.
