Catalan President Carlos Puigdemont ARRESTED in Germany

GERMAN police have arrested former Catalan President Carlos Puigdemont in Germany after the fugitive crossed the border from Denmark. The ousted independence leader is wanted by Spain for sedition.

Mr Puigdemont has led calls for the region to declare independence from Spain. He fled the country in the wake of an illegal referendum on the subject last year, and had been living in exile in Brussels.

Father-of-two Mr Puigdemont was held after crossing the border from Denmark, on the way to Belgium.

He was stopped on the A7 motorway near the Germany city of Kiel just before 11.30am local time.
His lawyer, Jaume Alonso-Cuevillas confirmed he had been “retained” by German police after crossing from Denmark by car.

He confirmed: “Carles Puigdemont has been retained in Germany when he was crossing the border from Denmark, on his way back to Belgium from Denmark.”

He added in a second message: “He has been treated correctly at all times.

“At the moment he is in a police station and his jurisdictional defence has now been activated.”

Mr Puigdemont's spokesman Joan Maria Pique added: "The president was going to Belgium to put himself, as always, at the disposal of Belgian justice."
If convicted Mr Puigdemont faces up to 25 years in prison in Spain on charges of rebellion and sedition for organising the referendum, which led to a unilateral declaration of independence in October.

Spanish daily El Pais said Spain’s Intelligence Service had kept watch on Puigdemont after he left Finland a day earlier than anticipated. It said he was allowed to continue from Denmark to Germany before being arrested because of the close relationship that exists between police in Germany and Spain.

Mr Puigdemont is clearly politically persecuted in his homeland, threatened with up to 30 years imprisonment for political reasons. Any African who wants to liberate his homeland and for this reason is threatened with imprisonment would be granted asylum in Germany. Germany MUST grant Puigdemont asylum.

AFD can ask why Muslim terrorists, their harems and tens kids receive Asylum in Germany and political persecuted Mr Puigdemont not.

It is irrelevant what the people of Catalonia want in the last poll. These people are wanted because of their political opinion. I am aware Catalonia Independence is against the Spanish Constitution. That is not what they are being arrested for...and regardless of whether Catalonia Independence is against the Spanish Constitution as a Democracy people have the right of their political view without persecution.

I am very aware that Germany has been supporting Spain rather than democratic values because of her position on the EU. That is Germany is supporting political persecution because she wants to keep what she believes she gets from the EU.
