japanese car was subpar compare to US automobile in the 70's, look at thier cars now. what would china industry look like in another 10, 20yrs from now. what happen when china catching up to us in technology field in 20yrs. there is a old saying, learn from the past, plan for the future.

i won't call $200k/yr salary is low pay jobs. and i won't say desgning next gen google search engine as lead engineer is low tech either. one of my friends, shes chinese, and thats her job.

goto any US university, see how many indian/chinese enroll in their engineering grad schools.

well US didn't invent automobile either, it was invented in europe. compare china today vs 30 yrs before, there is a huge tech/economic progress. if the growth continue, it may will be next japan or korea but with 1.5 billion people

 

Yes... But what did the chinese invented in the last 200 years. What product are you using today that were invented by the chinese in the last two century?

They don't have a tech industry. They have a tech manufacturing industry which is quite different. Manufacture jobs =/= innovation and inventions. Anybody can be trained to replicate a process. But to invent such process is what is important in the first place.

The vast majority of chinese are poor rural and uneducated...

by your standard what did japanese or south korean invent in the past 100yrs. many technology are improving upon exist product. todays automobile is vastly different than 100yrs ago, same with almost every products. china take the existing technology, then improve upon it, either less parts, last longer or cheaper. china today is still catching up to western technology standard. but if you look at progress made by china for the past 30yrs, you can generally get an idea what might happen in another 30yrs.

there are tons chinese company doing exactly same as many american company, but because they start late and lag the technology background, it will take them longer to came out products that has same function/quality as western products.

goto NYSE and check how many chinese brand are there. their products are improving every generation. the technology gap between west and china is getting narrow every year.

yes there are 600-700million peasant, but there are also 400 million middle class, thats more than the population of US. they invest alot in education, they have more college grad compare to US. the share volume and the size of china make china a major player today. as their middle class grow year after a year, what do you think will happen in another 10, 20yrs.

 

So what if they are? I'd be more wary of a country which actually used them, and which has started or participated in more wars than any other nation since WW2. Can you guess who?

Oooo I'm so scared. LOL, China will never be involved in any religious countries wars and conflicts. Why Because China's government actually runs the government and the country, not corporations or broadcast media. Throughout history, China and most of South America have stayed out of wars and world wars. They are too clever to get suckered into spending billions and trillions of dollars to kill and be killed so some fat cat wall street corporations can make money off it.

Iran, is currently the bad child of the Middle East, most of it's neighbors will distance themselves from Iran. And, it is unlikely, the religious nut bags of Iran (who realy control the country and politics) will allow bombs and troops to be invading their home land.

Only the paraniod cowards would fear Iran and nuclear wars. Dick Cheney syndrome is treatable/manageable by living in a cave with concrete bunkers, and sending others to do your dirty work. Too bad some people are so easily influenced by media propaganda.
