Bush, America’s conservative Christians have become infected with a serious malady; it’s what Vance correctly calls “war fever.” And the evangelical church in America is eaten up with it. And now that we have another Republican warmonger in the White House, war fever has reached epidemic proportions among evangelical Christians.


For Christian conservatives to talk about the bloodthirstiness of Muslims is laughable. Islamist jihadists don’t hold a candle to the sheer numbers of innocent people who have been killed (and are daily being killed) by the American empire. At the same time, conservative Christian pastors constantly trumpet more and more war, more and more killing.

The issue here is that a lot of so called christians are simply hedging their bets for death. Christianity teaches that life on earth is temporary, the afterlife is forever. This is why we see so many christians behaving like complete and total jerks being able to live with themselves. They go home at night and whisper a prayer and all the crappy things thy do is forgiven. They have a fatalistic urge for the world to end so that all those non believers can be "judged" by their religious machinery.

I know things like facts and reason have no effect on the religious but, imagine someone being raised religious and even being sent to religious schools. When they grew up and learned how to be an adult, they realized how stupid and pointless such superstitions are. Religious schools and religious people are the main reason people reject religion. Jesus had a lot of great things to say but, when you realize how many christians just ignore everything he stood for it poses a problem.
