You're damn right I don't blame the rock thrower because they don't deserve to be shot. Yes taser them, use force to bring them down and arrest them for assault but deadly force goes too far. Rocks alone are not "deadly weapons". Any reasonable can see that. If they were so effective they would have been used as regular weapons of war through time. They haven't. They are at best used as ammo for older weapons like slings and slingshots. As for a guy with a knife and a kid I'd prefer the cops not even be there. They are way more likely to escalate the situation and get my kid killed.
In rare cases it can, so rare that it is not something a reasonable person would consider a deadly threat.
My guess is you have no idea about what I'm talking about being that you are not addressing it. Let's get right to: a teen skips a bus fair. A cop confronts him. He pushes the cop to the ground and runs. The cop has a chance to shoot but wont be able to catch up to the kid after getting back on his feet. Should the cop shoot him or let him go?

It's outside of the scenario but I would say that less than lethal for used to stop the suspect would be justified up to a point. What if it came down to letting the teen go or shooting him though? To me this isn't a hard decision; let the kid go, it's not a big deal.
^^ Seems like even more good reason to actually verify the address before you start kicking in doors and throwing around smoke grenades and flash bangs. Humans are imperfect. . .so CONFIRM it is the correct residence with more rigorous investigation than a last known address or old town records if you are going to be kicking in doors. This wasn't a knock knock we have a warrant is person X here, OK we have the wrong address. It was a middle of the night full SWAT team no knock kicking in the door throwing around smoke grenades.

Yeah you missed the point. You can verify the address and still show up at the wrong house if there is something wrong with the records and no one knows it. You can also show up at the wrong address if the house numbers are incorrect.
Yeah… This is the 21st Century, supposedly the technology and information age. There is NO excuse, NONE, to have the wrong address of a residence or building, or the wrong vehicle for a police raid. Intelligence is supposed to be key in any law enforcement and military operation. Some agencies and stations need to do a lot better job. It's looking like it's happening on purpose.
