PHILADELPHIA (July 6, 2015) —(*)Bill(*)Cosby(*)admitted in a 2005 deposition that he obtained Quaaludes with the intent of giving them to young women he wanted to have sex with. He admitted giving the sedative to at least one woman.

The Associated Press went to court to compel the release of the documents, and they were made public Monday.(*)Cosby’s(*)lawyers had objected on the grounds that it would embarrass their client.

The 77-year-old comedian was testifying under oath in a lawsuit filed by a former Temple University employee. He testified he gave her three half-pills of Benadryl.

Cosby(*)settled that sexual-abuse lawsuit for undisclosed terms in 2006. More than a dozen women have since accused him of sexually assaulting them. Some believe they were also drugged.(*)Cosby(*)has never been criminally charged, and most of the accusations are barred by statutes of limitations.

Cosby’s(*)lawyers in the Philadelphia case did not immediately return phone calls.

A man I used to have high respect for. It's sad that a man who projected good values really has a disgusting predatory personality behind the facade. I hope he is punished appropriately.

Wow what a perv. With all his money he could've settled for prostitutes or a sugar baby if he was that horny, but no he had to resort to drugging and raping young women. No sympathy for him at all; I hope he ends up being cellmates with the Aryan Brotherhood.

Not sure why she'd have to have known - even if she knew he was sleeping around a lot that doesn't mean she'd have known he was drugging and raping women.

It's not like the Jerry Sandusky case where these incidents happened at home while she was in the house.

No, this is a deposition. It's a sworn legal document. It's "under oath". Admission of a felony under oath is ground for charges. Why wasn't Cosby charged "at the time"?

 

This really bums me out. The Cosby Show was one of my favorites back in the 80s. I watched it with my family weekly. I always liked Bill Cosby. It's sad he did these things, but I guess you get used to having a certain amount of money and think you can do anything.

 

As far as I'm aware of there's no law in PA against administering a person a sedative drug; it would only be illegal in the context of date rape, not a crime in its own right. Cosby never admitted to attempting to rape her, just giving her the drug.

 

Exactly. There is nothing anywhere that admits to giving the drug "surreptitiously" or "under false pretenses". It's simply an admission of purchase with intent to distribute.

Eh, I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one. Cosby (correctly) telling Black kids to pull their pants up doesn't abrogate his drugging women in order to take their pants off, and certainly doesn't mean it's a left-wing smear job. I agree that most of his accusers worked in Hollywood, and I'm gonna say the odds are the huge majority of them are liberals/democrats. But - these accusations against Cosby go back waaaaay before he started hectoring kids to clean up their act. Guy deserves prison, but won't see any jail time. I suspect him, Woody Allen, and Roman Polanski are gonna hang out together.

Ought to be interesting to see how Whoopi "It wasn't rape-rape" Goldberg tries to weasel her way out of taking Cosby's side on this one.
