How about better immunity from vaccination? The above article points out what we’ve believed for years. That regular exercise does help the immune system fight off infection. It also alludes to the suspicion the immune system was suppressed immediately following more strenuous exercise. Turns out it’s the opposite. Exercise increases immune response in the lungs for instance after exercising. Here is a review of numerous studies leading to that conclusion. It also presents the evidence for increased immune response to vaccination in active individuals. Brazil halted a hydroxychloroquine test due to heart damage according to an article in MedRxiv. Patients not getting the pacebo were given that drug plus azithromycin - which is often used in conjunction with hydroxychloroquine in the USA, too. The test was halted due to fatal heart arrhythmia showing up. Both those drugs are known to have heart risks.

Of particular interest to me was the micro needle array delivery system. No carriers, preservatives, or adjuvant. A patch with 100 microneedles made of cellulose deliver they vaccine to the skin. Very good and fast immune response as well as being a cheap delivery system that can be mass produced quickly. Also, the patch containing the dried vaccine can be irradiated to sterilize it to prevent contamination or infection of the recipient with an opportunistic pathogen.

Read this shortly after it was posted and was struck by the section on development of resistance to remdesivir. Specifically how in past experimentation resistant viruses became less pathogenic and less robust even when they did infect. If this holds true for all similar viruses to the ones already known to have some response to remdesivir, it would be theoretically possible to artificially force populations of viral groups into being less pathogenic but more importantly less damaging even if infections occur. If we figure out the exact mechanism and could alter robustness without affecting ability to infect, it could be even better. It would take time and effort but could result in something similar to screwworm eradication. For those not familiar here’s a link. https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/ou..._release_programs/screwworm/screwworm_history Of course an approach in virus would look very different because screwworm involves sexual reproduction, I’m just using screwworm as an example where coordinated efforts to alter populations can work. The wrench in the works of using remdesivir as described above would be the early reporting of 25% or more severe side effects including liver and kidney damage. The reporting on the latest trials (that we don’t have access to yet apparently) doesn’t mention side effects so that may or may not be accurate. Anyway, this is a fascinating drug whether it’s the final answer to C19 or not.
