Didn't say that, but you didn't show where my statement was hypocritical. You simply stated it which means that you either don't know what the word means or were simply bluffing.

    Both options are pretty likely.

There's good news and bad news.

    But mostly bad news.

Why 'The Marvels' bombed at the box office and what it means for the future of the once-mighty MCU

Nick Fury, we may have a problem. Marvel Studios has experienced a rare body blow when the studio's 33rd feature, The Marvels, scored the lowest-grossing opening weekend in the 15 years since the original Iron Man made it a global pop culture force to be reckoned with.

The Nia DaCosta-directed space adventure opened to $47 million domestically and just under $100 million worldwide, the worst start for any Marvel film since The Incredible Hulk back in 2008.

The box office wasn't the only bad news for the super-trio of Brie Larson's Captain Marvel, Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel and Teyonah Parris's yet-to-be-monikered Monica Rambeau. Critics were divided in their reaction to The Marvels, and the movie's B-level CinemaScore pointed to a lack of fan enthusiasm as well.

Latest I'm hearing about Majors is that the writer and director for the next Kang movie have been let go. It could mean they are actually planning to replace him, or it could mean just a different creative direction. It wouldn't be difficult for them to recast him, given how they've worked out the multiverse. I hope the rumors about him being replace by Doom are not true as I'd like to see Doom wait in the wings for an actual Fantastic Four film. I'm excited about the casting rumors I'm hearing for him, though. Honestly, if they ditch Kang Dynasty, I hope they go for an Avengers vs X-Men story, which is another rumor brewing.

I think the Kang stuff turned into a misfire, and not for the Jonathan Majors assault stuff.

After watching the Loki Season 2 finale, it seemed like Kang as a villain was almost entirely sidelined. The problem isn't Majors, it's the fact that they created a disposable villain. Kang was killed in Loki Season 1, Kang was killed in Quantamania by Ant Man no less, and the fact they showed at the end of that movie a Rick & Morty-esque council of Kangs means that killing one, two, or a hundred Kangs is simply irrelevant. You kill one, another one pops up.

I'm not sure how people are going to think stakes are anywhere near high enough to care if Kang gets killed in movie after movie.

Again, not Majors fault, but they basically neutered Kang as a real threat. Better to go with the High Evolutionary or Dr Doom and try again. Kang was an experiment that they screwed up.

Kang was enormously popular in Loki season 1 and was the only thing people liked about Quantumania. And, no, they didn't really kill him off there. And Rick & Morty is based on the Council of Kangs, not the other way around. High Evolutionary? No shot. He was a great villain, but no one will want to see him for more than one movie, given that his entire vibe is based all around animal abuse. Loki season 2 set up a situation where Kang could either be entirely abandoned or still show up. Doom? Nah. Doom should start as a Fantastic Four villain. That would be like bringing in Magneto as a villain before bringing in the X-Men. Makes no sense.

Well we'll see what the studio decides to do with Kang, but they are going to have to come up with some really creative storylines to make a disposable villain interesting.

You have it backwards. They "made him disposable" to have the option to switch him out. And, if you had actually paid attention, it isn't like most of the other Marvel villains were any stronger. Much the opposite.

"Switching him out" doesn't help the story line, in fact it takes you out of the story because you know why there is another actor playing him, and it's not for creative reasons.

The lore sets up the ability to do that very, very well. Hell, there have been multiple Lokis even just within the Loki series. And it wouldn't exactly be the first recasting they've done, they just have better lore for the recasting now.

So if I understand you correctly, dumping Jonathan Majors would be good for the story.

    OK, it's a take I guess.

I'm not sure how you got that, especially since I've praised his performance repeatedly.

Marvel Studios Drops Jonathan Majors Following Guilty Verdict for Harassment and Assault

Marvel Studios has parted ways with Jonathan Majors — the actor cast to play Kang, the central antagonist in the Multiverse Saga of the Marvel Cinematic Universe — after he was convicted on Dec. 18 of two misdemeanor counts of harassment and assault of Grace Jabbari, his ex-girlfriend. A source close to the studio confirmed the decision to Variety.

In the verdict, Majors was also found not guilty of one count of intentional assault in the third degree and one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree.
