That court case showed that just shooting a fleeing suspect is illegal and violates a persons Fourth Amendment. You have to have better causes to do that. The suspect must be a suspect that poses a significant threat of death or serious physical to others in order to justify that. This argument of Tennessee vs Garner is an argument that supports the idea the cop should be fired and convicted of manslaughter.

You're not quoting the court ruling to fit your argument. It reads:
the officer has probable cause to believe that the suspect poses a significant threat of death or serious physical injury to the officer or others.

So you only have a point if the officer is able to claim the guy was going to kill or attempt to kill somebody with a box cutter. Well, lets have it... they guy was walking away from cops and that proves he was going to do... yeah? I fail to see where the cops and you were able to conclude the attempt of murdering somebody. I fail to understand how a very short little knife can even be part of that conclusion.

The guy ignored the cops order to halt and was edging away to make a run for it, so they had to cut him down to stop him fleeing into the community to mistreat fluffy kittens or whatever.

I've conducted lots of felony trials, and never seen on in which whether or not the police officer had turned on a flashlight was an issue.

Perhaps the other poster is correct, and I should leave this forum. What we need is an Internet forum to which police officers can refer prior to beginning their shifts and see whose calls they should not answer. If officers could see where the nit-pickers were, they could, presumably, just leave those people to figure out on the forums how to protect themselves. It looks like you should all have that covered pretty easily, and have not need of police officers.

Ah, so you support his 2d Amendment rights along with that of the New Black Panthers and other patriots.

    Good move, buddy.

Please post sources that can verify your claims.

Of the 1.3 million full time and reserve officers, how many are you claiming are "bad"?

Once again, we look forward to you citing your sources to verify your outrageous claim.

If they have never been caught or brought to the Bar of Justice how would you list them?

I'm asking for sources to verify the claims. Are you refusing to post the number of bad vs. good cops?

    If so, don't bother replying.

There are no sources, do you think there is a website that says Good cop/Bad cop.

We just saw an officer shoot a man in the back and had a hung jury, so is he a good cop or a bad cop.

No, now you're making things up.

The post from which I responded was "a bad cop is a dime a dozen".

I asked for proof to verify those claims. Stop deflecting

Are contesting that the court has ruled that fleeing suspects can be shot? They can.
Or that a fleeing suspect who is no threat to the officer cannot be shot? They can.

No, its not a mystery because we have history to show us that police corruption does exist. Just look at the NYPD or the LAPD for starters.

    - - - Updated - - -

Uh no they can't, if there is no threat to the officer in pursuit. Take a look at TN vs Garner.

Once you decide that the suspect is armed you have very little time to react because it takes very little time for a person to turn and fire at you. If this suspect squatted as he turned - while the office was fumbling with his safety - the cops would be at a disadvantage. Giving criminals the first shot is insanity but it is what the liberal horde demands. Black leaders want the cop to be shot first in all cases or they call it murder.

    Sure.

I support the right of everyone to own firearms that have not been stripped of their rights via due process.

I am not threatening any such thing, only suggesting that, if you are that proficient in analyzing and solving these situations, determining what police officers should do in any situation, and so ungrateful of the police, you should have no need of them. Don't you agree?

I never said I was ungrateful for the police. You're putting words in my mouth.
