In addition to tackling dark money in elections which virtually everyone agrees is a bad thing, it would:

    Voting Rights
    • Mandate same day voter registration
    • Mandate 15 day early voting
    • Establish automatic voter registration for US citizens
    • Make election day a federal holiday
    Election Security
    • Mandated voter verified paper ballots
    • Mandated preservation of those paper ballots
    • Mandate all voting machines be manufactured in the US
    Campaign Finance Reform
    • Introduce voluntary public financing for campaigns
    • Implement the DISCLOSE act
    • Reduce the FEC to five commissioners instead of six
    Ethics
    • Require Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates to disclose income tax returns
    • Eliminate the use of taxpayer money by members of Congress to settle discrimination claims
    • Create a binding canon of judicial ethics for the SCOTUS
    • New disclosure rules and limitations on presidential inaugural committees
    Statehood for DC
    • Scrapped in final proposal
    Gerrymandering
    • Requires states to use independent commissions to draw congressional district lines

Seems like a decent proposal, what would it take to get Republicans on board?
It does take away politicians free money machines so I don’t see it passing unfortunately but some of what the bill intends is desperately needed.

Only the important things that were alleged:
    1. No vote counting allowed in the absences of observers from the both political parties
    2. Mandatory high definition video recording of all ballot counting
    3. Outlawing of mail-in ballots for all but the most unusual cases
    4. Mandate saving the ENVELOPES of the mail-in ballots and mandate tracing of the envelopes to the ballots
    5. Mandatory 10 year federal prison sentences for election fraud
    6. Outlaw of all electronic counting machines.

In other words, this proposal is pandering garbage that leaves all the loopholes in. The Democrats (and any Republican who supports this hot mess) can go fock themselves. Pretending to do something is far far worse than doing nothing.

Don't worry though, the Democrats only have to steal federal elections one or two more times. After the demographic change in Texas, they will have complete control forever as they do in California. I don't understand why they are pretending to give a crap about election security, no conservative who observed the last election will ever believe them with regards to that. Given that they hate conservatives, who in the hell are they trying to convince?

I am fine with most of your proposals except mail in voting — why should the elderly be forced to go out to vote, many of who have physical disability, when it could be done in the privacy of their home? Should our service members be denied the ability to vote? What about our politicians? If any of the above are given the ability to vote this way then anyone who so chooses should be allowed. Why are there never any Republican proposals on allowing mail in votes while also increasing the security of such? (We know why, turnout means a loss for Republicans typically)

I understand it is easier to paint elections as fraudulent vs reconciliation that your views are extreme and not representative of the people of this nation.

Most Democrats and many Republicans want actual election security while partisans want to make it as difficult as possible to vote.

We don’t hate conservatives. We hate the cult and the refusal to do anything that actually benefits anyone in this nation.

Only thing I could think to complain about is dropping statehood for DC. Good proposal over all.

you'd need to show they stole an election in the first place, which you of course can't do, because it never happened.

I agree that DC should be a state (or at minimum incorporated into another state) but it needs to be done correctly. I wish they would have put reappropriating the HoR in the bill though — that needs to happen ASAP

Most of these sound good and would have helped reduce the insane conspiracy theories in 2020, like the election being stolen. I can't agree with no more mail in voting, you only want that due to Dem voters using it. There was extremely low fraud for mail in voting, in fact less than in person voter fraud.

Democrats haven't stolen elections. The conspiracy forum this is not.

Who cares, those conservatives are objectively incorrect.

I am kind of dumb, what does "Create a binding canon of judicial ethics for the SCOTUS" mean?

I am fine with mail in voting only if all mail in votes are counted before the election day so we have a winner the evening of or morning after the election.

Also I like the idea of it being a federal holiday but I say do it for the midterms too.

Would absolutely love mail in votes to be counted sooner. Unfortunately waiting until after polls close is a deliberate decision. The suspicion it casts on mail in voting, as we saw in the last election, is a means to argue for its illegitimacy. One side does better when fewer people vote and doing away with mail in voting would further that goal.

    1. You can't mandate observers as most elections work without any. Should observers be allowed? Yes, and that is the case today.
    2. OK. Costly, but OK.
    3. No. There are too many valid reasons for mail in ballots and not enough evidence of fraud outside of a few isolated cases.
    4. If you are going to do number 2, just record the handling of the outside envelopes. No need to identify who someone voted for.
    5. Too much of a range of what qualifies as "election fraud". Plus, there is no case that can be made that the punishment for such a crime was too low. Most of the times they are pretty extreme.
    6. Horrible idea. It would make elections stretch out for a month.

This. Only some Republicans argue for preventing any counting of mail in ballots until election day or even after. Of course a reasonable Republican truly interested in better elections would argue in favor of early counting.

Have you ever read the U.S. Constitution?

If you have, what part of the Constitution regarding this issue do you FAIL to understand?
What are the chances of that happening in this day and age?

The constitution has been amended numerous times. I don’t see a problem with proposing another.

    That is all reasonable.
Why so many states thought it would be a good idea to wait count votes that they were sitting on I will never know.

Democrats prioritize campaign finance overhaul with ‘For the People Act’
Expectedly trying to sanctify and institutionalize fixed elections as fast as they can given the opportunity. We can kiss our democratic republic good-bye and welcome the Democrat State of America.

Who would be doing the same day registering if voter registrations were "automatic"?

Ironically, in 2020, the democrats actively opposed Virginia's ballot initiative for the creation of an independent commission to draw district lines as "racist". Now that it is their turn to draw the lines, they don't want it
