The titanic's hull number was 401 and that number was stamped on all the fittings, so the story is bullshit

 

Does it really matter? The end result was the same. A disaster with dead people.

Evidence The Titanic Was Sunk on Purpose



The clearest evidence that the ships were switched starts at the 49:08 time mark. It says name "Titanic" was on plates riveted over the name "Olympic" and some of the plates have rusted off and some of the original letters can be seen. If that's not photoshopped footage, it closes the whole case.

I believe it. Probably father of Lee Harvey Oswald and uncle of Jack Ruby repainted the Olympic so it looked like Titanic.
