Disney sues Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis over loss of special district

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S., Inc., filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida on Wednesday, alleging DeSantis led a "targeted campaign of government retaliation" against the company that violates Disney's free speech rights.

"Disney regrets that it has come to this. But having exhausted efforts to seek a resolution, the Company is left with no choice but to file this lawsuit to protect its cast members, guests, and local development partners from a relentless campaign to weaponize government power against Disney in retaliation for expressing a political viewpoint unpopular with certain State officials," the complaint states.


This will be an interesting case to watch. It was filed in a heavy Republican court. No Republican court should agree that the government has the right to retaliate a business exercising their right to free speech. If they do, it will end up in SCOTUS. The very heavy right wing court, most of whom are lovers of the constitution, will shoot it down.

 

In a statement, DeSantis’ communications director, Taryn Fenske, said, “We are unaware of any legal right that a company has to operate its own government or maintain special privileges not held by other businesses in the state.”

Fenske added, “This lawsuit us yet another unfortunate example of their hope to undermine the will of the Florida voters and operate outside the bounds of the law.”

Sorry Disney, state of Florida isn't going to support groomers no matter how large you are.

 

Normally I don't like mega corporations that much, but right now I'm all for anything that makes Ron DeSantis' job and life harder so I hope all the money the Mouse has to sue is put to aggravating him.

The lawsuit dropped 30 minutes after the new board voted to stop the agreement Disney made with the previous one.

You don't have this put together in 30 min. Disney waited until they tried to cancel a legal contract and then filed.

Yes, but to be fair having any employees get arrested for that is a bad look for any company. But still, no way I'm siding with DeSantis over Disney for any reason.

I think you need to look up the definition of grooming and then you can answer your own questions. Doesn't mean you will agree, but asking questions about "force" related to grooming signals to me that you aren't understanding what grooming is. Grooming is a slow, subtle manipulation. Not a smash and grab operation Endeavor.

How many children watch Disney movies or read Disney books without their parents provide them those material? None.

Without even using google, off the top of my head, there was the PRIDE party for all ages in disneyland (either happened recently or will happen soon)
There was that show where they were pushing CRT with that dumb little "slaves built america" bit

They have become the organization of groomers. I know its a tough pill to swallow. For something so loved by children to become so corrupt.
