Do people here really not know what Colin Kaepernick is protesting?

I don't know the Raiders' quarterback situation. You're probably right that his baggage would be less of a problem there.

The next time you want to comment on something you know nothing about, keep in mind there's a wealth of information at your fingertips that far exceed any set of encyclopedias. It all starts off with Google. If you did two minutes of research you would have learned that Garner had 30 encounters with police since 1980. It's safe to say he had enough experience with the police to know what to do when arrested.

His past encounters have zero to do with the issue. The cops actions were way out of control.

You have not even quoted any statistics from said book. That you expect someone to go to a library to check out some claim from an internet poster is laughable.

It is your claim - it is up to you to support that claim.

The Truth is that Gov't has been increasing its power and making bad law. In conjunction with this increase in power it has been increasing police power.

The Truth is that power corrupts and more power corrupts more. Bad law increases the number of interactions between police and citizens and it increases the animosity between the two. Increasing police power will increase the abuse of that power and the rate at which power goes to their heads.

    It is not rocket science.

Everything is explained in the book. I have no interest in your education or trying to convince you of anything. It's up to you to do that.

The ones who need to get a grip are those who believe, as you apparently do, that blacks are somehow exempt from the laws the rest of us are expected to follow. Bottom line - you present a threat to a police officer, she will do everything possible to insure she sees her family that night.

It's a bit off-topic, but has anyone heard him speak? I only did once, so it's too small a sample. He had trouble stringing one sentence together.

I'd rather see Richard Sherman out there talking. I disagree with some of his beliefs [I just don't get why so many people are so willing to believe the rampant white-suoremacy nonsense. (Ya'll is retarded 'bout that)], but he's someone that could carry on a rational, thoughtful conversation.

You don't know if a person is unarmed until you have determined beyond any doubt they are. This is why you follow the commands of police. If you don't you are going to get hurt. If you make furtive threatening movements you are going to die.

Here's an example of why cops issue commands... and how quickly things can go wrong when they hesitate:

As an aside... Tough one for Kaepernik and his cadre of facile sycophants - which black life matters more?

No one knows what the hell he is protesting because even he does not know.

His method is in fact directed at everything and everyone EXCEPT what he claims

What a joke. You have provided zero support for your claim. You can not even be bothered to cite statistics that you claim to exist.

You want statistics ... here are some

You are the one that needs to get a grip. You have to build a straw man (attributing false claims to the one you are debating) because you cannot make a coherent argument.

I simply cannot understand why folks continue to miss the point here. Kaepernick can protest all he wants. He can rail and wail into the air all day long in the public square. With the appropriate permits, he can march and demonstrate to his hearts content.

What Kaepernick doesn't understand is that I, as a potential fan or viewer, can not watch him. I can choose to ignore his protests, can choose to ignore his demonstrations and turn the other way on the public square and there is no impact to him or his rights in doing so. What Kaepernick is doing, however, is using his televised forum to force me to watch his demonstration. So, I'm turning the game off. I don't care about his vision, or his ideology. He was frankly a marginal QB to begin with, and his politics are yet one more indication of just how average this guy is. I am uninterested in the comments made by the TV staff covering his protest, and am just as likely to turn them off as well. I, like many others are choosing to ignore him, his cause, and frankly, the rest of the bogus demonstrations of millionaire poseurs who don his cause while they are at work, a job, btw, that was designed for our viewing enjoyment. All I ever wanted on Sunday afternoon was to not have to listen to the brimstone from the pulpit I had to in the morning. Getting this faux outrage and morality BS from a sideline of rich entitled athletes is beyond endurance, and unwelcome in my attempt to enjoy a good game.

Tens of thousands of law enforcement contacts a day across this country end in not so much as a heated word. Why?

keapernick was raised by a nice white family then he started dating some black activist chick and got woke and now he's protesting white people.

he is really, really stupid which is why he's also not a good QB.

running QBs are good until coaches get film and figure out how to stop them from running and make them throw from the pocket, which running QBs can't do.

Why are you making things up and pretending they are true ? Second, the reason most people do not say much is because they do not want to be attacked.

Talk back to or "question" a cop and often the cop will spiral into a rage. Look at that Nurse who was falsely arrested for doing her job. This was in a public space with large numbers of witnesses and a camera. Imagine if there had not been witnesses and film footage. That woman would be rotting in jail based on some lie the cop made up.

Cops lie on a regular basis. I have had this happen to me personally on a number of occasions. This was over a traffic infraction of all things. If a cop will lie over something as insignificant as this ... god forbid it was a serious issue.

I kid you not when I say this has happened to me on a number of occasions in relation to traffic offenses that I have taken to court. This does not mean that all cops are bad. I have also had some very good encounters.

There was one occasions when the daughter of a gal I was dating had an incident involving her getting spit on at a bar by some girl who was with 4 guys. There was a verbal altercation in the parking lot - minor stuff ... daughters car as kicked. The daughters friend ended up calling her Boyfriend who showed up with some friends and the 4 guys were afraid to get out of the car and so the one did some damage with a rod to one of the cars.

So this girl then calls the cops. A cop came to our house and was a complete a-holes. He was so obviously jaded that I thought this guy must be related somehow to this girl. They ended up charging the daughter and putting her in jail for a few hours. We posted bail obviously. The cop embellished and made stuff up. It was very disturbing. The charge ended up getting dropped as soon as it got to the prosecutor but, it should have never gotten that far to begin with. It was not even the daughter's bf that showed up.

This is just my own personal experience. Again not all of them are bad but a whole lot are .... Way more than "one bad apple"

He is using the flag and anthem as a tool because disrespecting them (oh yes he is) insults enough people to make some headlines. What he is/was really protesting is the fact that he isn't as good at playing football as he thought he was. It isn't that he couldn't be a backup but that talent level isn't worth enduring the baggage that will always follow him now.

Well, Kaepernick did point out that Hillary Clinton a racist crook who should be in jail. That should have cost him his job - right? ;-)

“I mean, you have Hillary [Clinton] who’s called black teens or black kids super-predators." Kaepernick

"I mean, we have a presidential candidate who’s deleted emails and done things illegally and is a presidential candidate. That doesn’t make sense to me, because if that was any other person, you’d be in prison. So what is this country really standing for?” Kaepernick
Washington Post, Colin Kaepernick criticizes Clinton and Trump, says he will keep sitting during anthem, By Jeremy Gottlieb, 8/28/16.

Laquan McDonald? The guy who puled the knife on the cops?

I also noticed you completely ignored the substance of this video which illustrated how dangerous policing is and how quickly cops can get shot by "unarmed suspects." I have also noticed that I am not surprised that you ignore these blatant facts.
