The Zero Tolerance policy is a euphensm for a mindless no thinking approach to the application of scare tactics in the indoctrination of children to alleviate irrational fears among adults and a political pretense of doing something positive at the expense of a child. If liberal parent were to see what we did in my primary school in Belfast, they would faint dead away.
Common sense is dead among liberals, replaced by mindless PC madness... zombieland. The dead of mind reign.

Your article in no way undermines these surveys and they have been done over and over again. 90% of americans want UBC's.

It is also a fallacious appeal to popularity.

i think what he means is- while elections by a simple majority are legal, laws that violate constitutional rights are not. Thats why folks call this limited democracy we live in a 'republic.' Majority doesnt get to rule everything.

If simple majority ruled, we could do 'everything' to benefit the majority, even enslave the minority! Doesnt that sound fun?

Every law must pass constitutional muster. I don't think UBC's would be declared unconstitutional.

Pretty sure the liberals will agree - every time they are on the side of the majority.

Not to burst your bubble, but I served in law enforcement... and most cops are actually very poorly trained in the tactical use of firearms. There are exceptions, of course, but the perceptions that cops are, by definition, highly trained gun handlers is a fallacy.

No, but we 'hate cops' (as you have accused repeatedly) just cuz we dont completely trust them to keep us completely safe and want to take additional precautions...

VG: "And yet he will be psychologically screened, closely supervised and highly trained. Not perfect but better than a weekend warrior"

He clearly doesn't. I'm sorry, but I WAS a law enforcement officer, serving in the agency with more armed confrontations annually than all other Federal agencies combined, the US Border Patrol. I have taken training from law-enforcement, private security, military, and civilian sources. Police are NOT "highly trained". Most are not even "adequately trained." This is not the fault of the officers; most officers do what they can with the resources they are provided, but most of what they are taught is how to not shoot themselves in the backside, and most can't even do THAT right. There was a running joke: "Show me a police station without at least one bullet hole in the wall from an Accidental discharge and I'll show you a building that hasn't been commissioned yet." At the civilian gun range in town, a friend of mine who worked there once said they always knew when quals were coming up because guys were showing up in plainclothes with their duty rigs on, sweating bullets. Most took multiple tries to achieve a minimum passing score... and I got razzed by my fellow agents because I practiced on my own time, took time off to attend advanced training classes on my own dime, shot competition at least once a month.... and regularly shot possibles (as in "highest possible score") at qual time.

Whenever someone talks about LEOs as being "highly trained", I want to laugh...

You are making the argument that there is no way teachers could ever be trained for this job.

But, how many would agree when they find enforcement would require a federal gun registration system?

I do know this and from my perspective, I helped with remedial LE firearms training as well as non LE concealed carry, and there was a fair amount of crossover between both camps.

Police Officers start out as untrained noobs in firearms many times, example, Democrat Cadets with no firearms experience, exposed at age 20 something to guns ?

NYPD hired Military Veterans with combat experience like Jim Cirrillo of stake out squad lore.
Or Gunner Erickson, and other well known NYPD Gun fighters....

Then they started hiring College kids with zero Gun knowledge and a college degree and no fighting skills.

Problem, if you have never been in a fight, an Adrenaline dump will kill off your fine motor skills as well as your aim if you are shooting.

It is important to remain calm, this is an aquired skill.

You will not shoot accurately if you are in fight or flight mode this is where you get incidents of many shots fired and few hit the intended target.

It is not so much a matter of training as it is conditioning to deal with a combat situation, I can train someone well in static shooting and bullseye and stances, however, that Officer gets shot, a minor injury, and all training flies out the window as flight or fight takes over.

Politics and P.C. also bears some blame as Anti Gun Bosses want less emphasis on Gun Fighting and more Law education.
Hence combat veterans having better success than young gunless suburbanites.

Avid hunters also fare better as Police Offices learning the value of remaining calm and not spooking the game they are hunting.

This is also is crossover skills sets.

There is margin for error and training timelines for a Rookie to become a seasoned Police Officer, easy to judge them from an armchair, and no simple answers, however, from my observations, you can't turn a desk jockey into a seasoned Police Officer overnight.
