Does anyone here support defunding or eliminating police? If so why?

Elimination of the police is not a realistic or desirable goal. Reduction in police funding is. Reduction in funding where possible throughout every area of Gov't is desirable.

The problem with the cost of policing is due to bad law. When an activity that 12% of the population engages in on a regular basis is criminalized (Pot) a need a whole lot of Police is created.

Like any Bureaucracy - it is difficult to get rid of people.

No need to hope. Obviously law enforcement is needed. Anyone who says we don’t need police is a moron.

 

No but an overhaul of training is needed in some places and there needs to be more accountability, not just when it's politically beneficial.

You highly overrate the police department. And, Trump won the libertarian vote, and they also fancy the idea of less government at the state level, and defunding the police to lower taxes is sorta their thing too.

Libertarians hold the position that the state exists to protect the right of the people; removing the state's capacity to enforce the laws to that effect runs counter to this.
