If White hatred of and racism against blacks is as prevalent and violent as the left wants us to believe, who will protect the blacks from the whites once the police have disbanded?

When fighting oppression the tools of the oppressor ALWAYS become the tools of the oppressed.

There's an understandable level of denial of this absolute truth but don't ask me, ask
    Filipinos
    Chinese
    Vietnamese
    Sandinistas
    Peronists
    French Resistance
    ...

    You will lose.
    They will win.

They will win because you can kill them but you cannot kill their ideas.
    They are fighting for freedom.

It is improper to quote part of a post without clearly indicate it is taken out of context.

Guess you missed that in 4th grade.

    Those people aren't protecting you
    They're protecting THEM
And THEY would see you dead if it pleases them
    Only a fool thinks otherwise

Not in a civilized society. In order for a civilized society to exist, the type of renegade oppressors and anarchists that you support must lose, and those legally authorized to thwart the oppressors must win. I don't know what it's called in your neck-of-the-woods; but in the US it's called "law and order".

In their times each of these was a civilized society and the oppressors they defeated spoke of law and order the same as you.

NO ONE wants to "Eliminate Police".

"Defunding Police" is a completely different issue involving reallocation of resources.

The US is often credited as being the longest lasting democracy in the world. Could you give us an example of a longer lasting anarchy?

Also, could you please explain to us why you believe a democracy to be oppressive, and an oppressive anarchy to be a victim of oppression. Would it not be fair to say that an anarchy is its own oppressor? Sort of like the inmates running the asylum.

Absolutely the dumbest idea in American history. If you ever had any doubt about the intelligence of politicians, those endorsing this have officially proved themselves to be certifiable morons.

Defunding is defunding. How would a police department be able to operate without funding?

'Defunding' is really about using the budget process as a lever to negotiate concessions from the police union, and from the police dept upper brass. If they don't play ball, you either reduce their annual budget or the size of their annual increase. Its a fairly draconian tool, that has always been available but politically is very risky business. Despite the current fervor, very few people want to walk into a re-election campaign proposing cuts to the police, the fire dept or ambulance service.

I am not a fan, myself and have not been impressed with the proponents arguments. I am far more inclined to increase that budget as better public policy than cut it, but I do admit that 'tool' as to remain in the box, for recalcitrant union.
    opposition to reform.

We need to reform how the public perceive the police, because the real problem in holding the police accountable, only starts with what happens on the beat or in the stationhouse. It ends with the jury pool. In Oregon, until very recently, one lone juror could not lead a jury to deadlock. it took two. I might even revisit that, before I started a series of consecutive cuts in policing budgets. We need cops and we need them out and about.

This is what happens when you get your policy proposals from protest signs. The clear meaning, "Defund the Police" is too crazy to keep the suburbs on team Biden during the election, so every partisan comes out with some sort of massaging on what it "really means."

    Yawn.

Professional police departments have demonstrated that they are unable to maintain law and order.
Time for another law enforcement model.

Police are funded via local taxation. Mostly property taxes.

If you had learned anything from history you would you would find the regimes you mentioned in your earlier post abhorent. French Revolution 10's of thousands murdered including many of its own leaders. It was murdered priests burned down churches, murdered and partially ate an Austrian princess, not unlike the horrors of the Maoist cultural revolution.

You guys ever watch the news?

Corey Booker is part of a group pushing reform of the justice system, he won't even say those words.

Black voters are, by far, the most pragmatic voters in the country. There is no way they would support defunding the police.

When this started, it was about allocating more money for social concerns, and less for the police. That's already started, but we won't be able to do much cutting of police budgets.

It's also not how we should do it. Crank up the new programs, when they get the crime rate down (it's been done before) then modest budget reductions might be possible. But I'd like to see better pay for police go along with higher standards, better training, and more oversight. That would eat up those savings, but it's still the right thing to do.

Relax, have a cup of coffee, and find news that isn't goofy.

Nonsense it started when a coalition of personal injury lawyers and patient's rights advocates essentially closed state mental hospitals.

Fastest way on Earth to create anarachy. Is all.
There is no debating that. It's Historic precedent.
So why would Democrats even hint about.because they love to
pop their yappers off.And Kowtow to whatever Crisis they feel
    can help or enable them.
This BlackLivesMatter narrative was a man-made manipulated
Crisis.Like what the Old KGB used in order to Destabiize and
Demoralize a country in order to conquer. This Criris was decades
in the making. That is why it escalated so fast. It's been in the funding
and training stages for awhile.Using versions of Maoist Propaganda.
How Mao was able to conquer China.Add into that the fact that a
majority of our Universities have also been hijacked with a near
Saul Alinsky mindset.Instead of American pride it's the opposite.
    Why ? I still don't understand.Unless the power to have a voice
on a college campus unchallenged,is appealing.
Where Leftists on University Campus are all versions of a
BMOC { Big Man on Campus }.
