Don's Stalinist purge has begun

To be clear, I acknowledge the use of the term "Stalinist" is a bit hyperbolic.........but I thought it was appropriate since Trumpette's threw it around so loosely (and inaccurately) in referring to the impeachment hearings in the House.

President Trump on Friday punished two witnesses who testified in the investigation that led to his impeachment, removing them from their posts in an apparent campaign to exact retribution on his perceived enemies in the wake of his acquittal in the Senate this week.

The White House ousted Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman from his post on the National Security Council and recalled U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland, moves that were quickly condemned as vindictive and an attempt to intimidate government officials who speak out against Trump.

Vindman, a decorated combat veteran who testified in November that he was disturbed by Trump’s call for Ukraine to investigate the president’s political rivals, was escorted out of the White House on Friday, according to his lawyer, David Pressman.

As I wrote yesterday, Vindman had planned to ask for a new assignment at the end of the month. But Trump wanted the opportunity to send a clear message to everyone in the government over which he has control (just about everyone). That message........tell the truth about me and you are toast.

The body count from the Obstructionist-in-Chief's corrupt Ukraine scheme is mounting. Mike McKinley, a senior adviser to Pompeo, resigned in protest some time ago. Kurt Volker, the special envoy to Ukraine, resigned. Former ambassador Marie Yovanovitch resigned. Tim Morrison, the National Security Council's Russia and Europe director, stepped down.
Earl Matthews, another senior National Security Council official who was present at several meetings now being investigated by House Democrats, resigned. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry announced his resignation in connection with the Ukraine scandal. Mark Sandy, a career staffer in the White House Office of Management and Budget, told impeachment investigators that two budget staffers left the agency after expressing frustrations about the unexplained hold on Ukrainian aid.

I imagine Trumpette's will claim this too is perfect which, of course, it is not. It's a reinforcement of the out in the open for all to see crushing of any and all dissent and or perceived acts of disloyalty to el Duce Don.

It's correct to point out a prez gets to choose who works for him. That principle is not in question. The matter at hand is the reason for dismissals or resignations. No one needs to have any doubt about that. People working in this admin are either willing to be complicit in corruption and incompetence or they don't last long. When you're told to do something immoral, unethical, or illegal by this prez you do it......keep your mouth shut......or there will be consequences. It's why McGahn, McMaster, Kelly, Mattis, Tillerson, Sessions, Spencer, Bolton, McAleenan, Coats, Ricardel, Shulkin, Feeley, Cohn, McCabe, Taylor, Comey, Priebus, Corallo, Shaub, Yates, Bharara have already been purged.

It's bad enough Don can't tolerate anything but sycophants working around him. Now he's openly seeking retribution against people who exposed his criminality. Billy the Bagman stands ready to continue to weaponize the DoJ for the Bigot-in-Chief. And the source from which he derives his power, The Following, has already proven themselves willing to support everything their Dear Leader does. The country is becoming unrecognizable.

The White House needed a good fumigation.

 

The punishment is less severe (because Don knows even he can't get away with putting people in prison) but the principle is the same.

 

Especially the Oval Office.

I am still trying to get someone to explain why Vindman is so special. He is an army lieutenant colonel. There are thousands of them, most as loyal or more loyal to the US. Just because he wore a dress uniform to testify with all his medals, does not make him a bit more reliable or credible.

 

Vindman told the truth. He shouldn't be punished for that.

Punishing a decorated veteran for telling the truth is "common sense business?" That's what happens in dictatorships.

 

Actually, he broke the law. Flynn did his job and was set up by Obama's army of Stalinists.
