    You think you knew.

No dodging. In fact, no responsibility.

Therein lies one of the main failures of government.

Instead of punishing the criminal so severely that no one in their right mind would even think of committing a gun crime, instead government uses the "One size fits all" approach, and restricts firearms from everyone - criminal and law abiding citizen alike.

This leaves the law abiding citizen without firearms, and provides the criminal another method of making money - the illegal sale of firearms.

I've asked this question before, and no one can answer. I'll ask again in hopes that someone reading this post will provide an answer --

The War on Drugs is, quite frankly, putting it in the best light possible, little more than a containment exercise - drugs are still being smuggled into the United States. As one method of delivery is discovered, the drug cartels will find another.

Prohibition in the United States was by all definitions a failure. And, it also inadvertently spawned what we now know as "organized crime".

With that in mind, can someone please tell me how a ban on firearms has any chance of success?

Some good points there, as you say, prohibition doesn`t work, we are losing the battle againse illegal drugs in both your, and my country. I don`t know what the answer is, but clean living people here are very angry about being made to pick up the tab.

I`m all for gun safety, licencing and security, but recent Australian laws are thinly disguised, sly oppression. For example, licenced sporting pistol shooters are forced to attend a minimum of 6 registered competitions per category, per anum, or be forced to hand their pistols in. This has had the opposite effect, to what was planned for by the anti gun lobby. A new market has been created for unregistered firearms, for unlicensed shooters. There is now a strong black market supply of 1911 style semi automatic pistols, they are just too easy to smuggle into the country.

Ayuh,.... Zero,... Zip,... Nada,... No way in 'ell...

Just as with every other social engineering idea by the Left,...

The unintended consequences over-ride any perceived benefits...

Just as LBJ's Great Society of the 60s, gave us the massive crime waves of the 80s....
The Left won't be Happy, til Only criminals have guns...
