Iran, not really so much. Especially if the Christians convert other Muslims. Then the authorities often find some trumped up charges to put the pastor away for 5 or 10 years. There have still been teenagers from Muslim families who were sent to jail because they wanted to convert to Christianity.

No, that is NOT what you said. You said they deserved what happened because they got a settlement decades later.

So, it's NOT *off topic* because you're in trying to pretend like you give a damn about abused and exploited people. It's not my problem complex topics <censoring myself>.

That doesn't help. All I did was post a link and excerpt so how is anyone supposed to know your position on that information?

    huh?

The OP comes up with the idea that Egypt discriminates Christians when kidnapped.
But the poster put up a link that the Egyptian government gives extremely harsh penalties to those who do.
So the apartheid claim gets debunked in the OP.

    didn't you notice?

    As for your "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persecution_of_Copts"
It's not done by the government. So there is no apartheid.

It's not like in the US, where when a black person and a white person are brought before the courts for some law that they broke, that a black person with the same (criminal) background the white person gets a longer sentence on average by a good margin.

Ah my bad. I posted the wrong link. It should have been:
    https://swarajyamag.com/insta/pakis...erted-to-islam-to-be-returned-to-her-abductor

Kazenatsu suggested that when something happens like a girl being kidnapped and forcefully converted to Islam and married in Pakistan, that it also happens in Egypt... and that the courts allowe it.

I sourced it's not allowed and the high court overturned that probably low level corrupt little local court.
And Pakistan is on a different continent of Egypt. It would be saying Mexico is just like the US, both Christian and all of that. Or Portugal is just like Finland.

So why should I give my position on something that's not true? It's also not relevant on the topic of Egypt and it's fake claim of apartheid.

I would think the reason for that should be obvious. This is a discussion board so commenting on posts is how the whole thing works.

Further, since you clearly felt compelled to post in the thread, it helps the reader to follow both sides. That is not available to us when you just post a link.

Why do you believe that Egypt is making false claims about apartheid?

Why do you believe that Egypt is making false claims about apartheid?[/QUOTE]

I responded in #16 about that offshoot claiming this is just like Pakistan, where supposedly a christian girl legally was kidnapped, converted and married.... but actually did not happen. I responded in #18 that since the Egyptian government -with ease- gives people a life in jail sentence on kidnapping a Christian, that I do not see any kind of apartheid. For instance, it's unlike a Palestinian in the West Bank who doesn't got the same rights as Jew in the West Bank.

OK. Thanks for expounding. I understand your position now.

With that said, I don't see the connection between the examples you posted and your conclusion that their claims of apartheid are fake.

Comparatively, some people in the US say that systemic racism toward non-whites does exist but it does exist. And, they can probably come up with a few examples that may prove otherwise but that doesn't negate the fact that every single non-white person in this country is not marginalized in some way.

That sounds exactly what you are saying about the same concerns in Egypt so the position doesn't hold up.

There is no connection since there is no apartheid in Egypt.
Not by law and not systemically in the system, as far as I know... while I think a life sentence for a kidnapping is rather steep.

No doubt people face discrimination by random people. But that's something else.

Uh no. The government in the US treats black people differently. It's not by law that this happens, but it does show very clearly in all kinds of statistics. So that's not apartheid, but systemic racism.

I spot a clear difference between:
    - (apartheid) what the law says as for instance a Jew got far more rights in the West Bank compared to a Palestinian.
    - (systemic racism) how a judge rules as for instance, a black person gets a longer sentence then a white person by a large margin under the same circumstances under the same laws
    - (racism) random people being buttholes to minorities in the open.

You can't just lump it all together and see it as all and the same.
Well you can, but I just don't agree and undoubtingly it doesn't fit the definition of the word if you want to go anal.

Understandable. However, you are using a handful of examples to basically silence the people that speak out about their marginalization. Unless you live in Egypt and have some kind of historical experience of what those people are facing, you *are* silencing their voices.

I am absolutely not silencing THEIR voices.
People who kidnap "their kind" get a sentences to a full live in a jail. And in a kind of jail that I can imagine is exceptionally overcrowded and dangerous, and not exactly a picknick.

I can not possible see how the Egyptian government applies any kind of racist laws or systemic racism on this topic against the Christians. Nowhere does it say that when a Christian kidnaps a Muslim, that he gets burned alive or something and that a Muslim is getting off easy when kidnapping a Christian with just a life sentence.

So I'm only silencing the voices of people who are wrongfully claiming that Egypt is an apartheid state.

You are of course free to point out what the racism is that the Egyptian government applies by law or by practice. As far as I can see, it's just some random Egyptians who are racist.

Well, you're making my argument for me.

Racists in America say that "racism does NOT exist because there are currently no laws allowing bigotry relative to race.". and that statement is true. There aren't any current laws specifically saying the discrimination against non-whites or women. However, systemic and overt racism happens constantly.

    Examples:

Steering toward certain communities and steering away from other communities (not connected to approvability ratings).
Police officers always back each other up so they will lie under oath if one of their co-workers does something stupid.
Non-whites get fewer second chances, are convicted more often and receive longer sentences (similar type crimes).

And, the argument is always that all of them are lying with using the above ridiculous argument. So, let's say you don't believe any of the above which is your right. Unless a person is blind and deaf, everyone on the planet outside North Korea saw that the mob did to those Capitol police officers. We saw them smash one officer's head into a door repeatedly. We all saw them seeking out then VP-Pence. They can't deny it happened because we were watching it live so the spin becomes they weren't really Trump supporters and other activists groups pretended to be his supporters just to make him look bad. For one, he doesn't need help looking bad. He does that on his own. Secondly, there is no way in hell that every police officer within 50 miles would NOT be called to action to help the Capitol Police if the crowd was predominantly ANY other race than white. That IS systemic racism and it flows through every facet and moment in non-white people's lives.

Therefore, your foundation is based on something that is completely irrelevant in the fight against bigotry. Most racists hide in plain sight. They aren't going to advertise their opinions. They are just going to enough causing some type of harm to whomever they hate. It makes absolutely no sense to even suggest that doesn't happen because it's not written down somewhere.

The above argument I put up in red, is a true phenomena. The US government keeps track of that, nationwide, every year. Statistics do not lie. It's been proven time and time again with a massive margin. And so it's not being hid in plain sight at all. It actually gets written down. And so it is all a picture perfect example how systemic racism is firmly present in the US.

Nothing like that seems to happen in Egypt according to the article in OP. So the claim in the OP that they even got apartheid, as in the law in Egypt is racist,... is just false. All it is, is an Islamophobic rant. And I add: the article claims it's from 2011-08-14. It's well over a decade old and got posted in "Latest US & World News". The poster of the OP got in it's signature "geertwilders.nl" That guy Wilders is Dutch politician, anti-Muslim, and a convicted racist. Big surprise, no?

Do also notice other posters dragged in Pakistan, Iran and Syria in a topic supposedly about apartheid in Egypt. It's whatever the cats might drag in to rip on brown people from the ME-thread. is it "Most racists hide in plain sight." or is it actually rather obvious?

No one mentioned Trump. Does the shoe fit? Clinton was accused of the same as have many other men.

The Christian population is declining year by year in the Arab world.
On the other hand the amount of persecution against Christian Arabs has increased.
The disgust is that Muslim Arabs who abuse Christians come to Europe and a large part of them corrupt the forgiving Christian image of Europe.
