That would serve no purpose. They would have waited over a year if that was the point.

This only has value if they get a conviction.

Kevin McCarthy vows to investigate Merrick Garland over Donald Trump raid - Washington Times

"House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy publicly warned Attorney General Merrick Garland on Monday night that he faces an investigation over the FBI’s raid of former President Trump’s home if Republicans gain the majority in the November elections.

“Attorney General Garland: Preserve your documents and clear your calendar,” Mr. McCarthy said on Twitter. “When Republicans take back the House, we will conduct immediate oversight of this department, follow the facts, and leave no stone unturned.”

The California Republican said after the raid of Mr. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, “I’ve seen enough.”

The Department of Justice has reached an intolerable state of weaponized politicization,” he said.

Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel added that the raid shows why voters need to elect Republicans this fall."

If this were still 2008, you probably wouldn't be making the accusation because you wouldn't have been swept up in Trump's endless self-pitying, sympathy-seeking, narcissistic lies.

You would have to ask AG Garland. Why would you expect US to know? There are far too many to choose from in Trump's case.

Secretary Clinton destroys 30K emails on her private server=perfectly fine. Donald Trump takes documents to his Mar A-Lago estate: Criminal prosecution. Yeah, Garland's going to end up being the attorney general who cements a two tier justice system and a lack of confidence in the system. If a spade is a spade, then Trump should have no liability as Clinton did.

    "But ... but ... HILLARY!!!"

Hillary Clinton has been investigated more than any other political figure, and no one found evidence to hang her with.

Either she's not guilty, or she's one of the greatest criminal masterminds in history. Pick one.

I doubt that the super-cautious Merrick Garland would have obtained a search warrant for a former president unless he knew he could get an indictment from a grand jury, and/or a conviction. This is the DOJ in uncharted waters.

Being specific to what I actually said and what actually happened, it was FMR DIrector Comey who said 'no reasonable person would prosecute'. But ah, I'm guessing AG Garland found a few people to prosecute the relative charges. Hence it's two-tier. Both people took classified information from the premises, one wiped it 'like a cloth' and the other one kept it.

Perhaps the crime was in fact actually KEEPING the documents in tact as opposed to deleting them! LMFAO.

Clinton's emails? Again? The facts do not support your obsession with Clinton's emails. They do, however, support raiding Trump's place of residence, where he is known beyond doubt to have taken classified documents.

15 boxes of documents were seized from Trump's home.

Trump had been warned by the Department of Defense and the CIA not to leave with certain boxes because they contained top secret documents.

As always, Trump thought he was above the law.

What happened today proves that he isn't.

National Archives asks DOJ to investigate Trump's handling of White House records
The Archives recently retrieved 15 boxes of records from Mar-a-Lago.

MORE: National Archives retrieves boxes of presidential records from Mar-a-Lago
A source confirmed to ABC News that discussions in the department around the Archives' referral are in the very early stages, and it is not clear whether DOJ would open a formal investigation into the matter.

Legal experts reached by ABC News earlier this week expressed skepticism that the department would take the unusual step of seeking criminal charges against a former president for violating the Presidential Records Act.

A DOJ spokesperson declined to comment on the referral. The National Archives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

A spokesperson for Trump provided the following response to ABC News in response to an inquiry on the Archives' referral:

"Following collaborative and respectful discussions, the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) arranged for the transport of boxes that contained Presidential Records in compliance with the Presidential Records Act. Much of this material will someday be displayed in the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library for the public to view my Administration’s incredible accomplishments for the American People.

"The media’s characterization of my relationship with NARA is Fake News. It was exactly the opposite! It was a great honor to work with NARA to help formally preserve the Trump Legacy.

    Snip:
The House Oversight and Reform Committee on Thursday announced it would investigate, sending a letter to the National Archives seeking more information.

MORE: National Archives to turn over Pence records to Jan. 6 committee
"I am deeply concerned that these records ... appear to have been removed from the White House in violation of the Presidential Records Act (PRA)," Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., said in a statement. "I am also concerned by recent reports that while in office, President Trump repeatedly attempted to destroy presidential records, which could constitute additional serious violations of the PRA."

Trump also denied a report on Thursday that White House staffers believed the then-president may have been flushing documents down the toilet.

As reported by Axios, an upcoming book by the New York Times' Maggie Haberman says that staff in the White House residence periodically discovered a toilet had been clogged by wads of printed paper, which they believed had been flushed down the commode by Trump.

"Another fake story, that I flushed papers and documents down a White House toilet, is categorically untrue and simply made up by a reporter in order to get publicity for a mostly fictitious book," Trump said in a statement. "The Democrats are just using this and the Unselect Committee of political hacks as a camoflauge (sp) for how horribly our Country is doing under the Biden Administration."

    You sound quite panicky.

The FBI will specify the crime if and when charges are filed. They obviously have a lot of facts that aren’t known to the public.

Currently it looks like it might be related to mishandling of presidential records. Be patient.

How do they not? Are you contesting that Secretary Clinton didn't possess classified information on her emails? There's a whole Wikileaks, Russiagate, the whole thing surrounding it. Or are you contesting that the information was destroyed? Secretary Clinton herself personally stated as such, and we know her close aides destroyed cell phone records ontop of it.

Again, both people are 'guilty' of the same crime. One is being prosecuted, the other wasn't. What other reason exists besides politics? I can't wait for Garland's statement to save face on it.

Nope. She was not guilty because she was never tried and convicted. You are familiar with how our system of justice works, aren't you? In the same way, Trump is not yet guilty of a crime, but there was probable cause for a no-knock search warrant. Secretary Clinton was investigated and cleared because there was no case to be brought against her. Donald Trump is being investigated and it remains to be determined whether is a case to be brought. Several cases, in fact.

You have displayed nothing but woeful bias for Trump's entire brief political career to date. I do wish you would start thinking for yourself instead of letting MAGA World tell you what to think.
