When it comes to financing the operation, you might be right. Nevertheless when it comes to the military production there are some real problems without the US. I am not quite sure if it would be better for Europe to make clear, they have to solve the problems by themselves, because that could be possible as well, but reforms are needed and especially Europe must get out of this infantile mindset of being the world power of pacifism and face the reality.

Some have simply an interest that Russia looses this war. Rightly so, Russia seems to be completely megalomaniac and delusiuonal, not seeing the reality. Russia has to come to its senses in its own interest. Otherwise the most influential economic sector will once be sell out of their women to Chinese men for perverted sexual preferences for forex for generations.

Its to prevent Russia from invading Poland or the Baltics just like they did with the Ukraine.

Thats basically the core of it, but without a doubt as well as you have a point so does the Ethereal. With the political willingness and the right measures EU could outproduce Russia big times, its the willingness to give up the ideology and confess a mistake.

    That's kinda ripe.

That's the same language all the little euro countries said about the USSR. Now those little countries banded together to form the EU, which acts and looks exactly like the old USSR.

Fell for that nonsense MIC propaganda too, did ya?

The EU can't outproduce **** without input energy. Look around, the EU has to import the bulk of it. It seems they don't have balls or resources to back up their mouths.

~ That is exactly what the U.N. intended. The 'North American Alliance ' is next ...

~ Going "green" does that. Maybe the wind will blow long and strong and the sun will shine bright enough for all those 'Made In China' solar panels and windmills.

Theres a huge difference between a voluntary merging or building up a supranational infrastructure or forcing other people into it.
According to your nonsense that works - if at all - only on pure formalism I could as well say the USA is the same like the USSR, because several states which merged. The EU is not even going that far.

No, simply listening to Putin and his claims.

Like most industrial states. The problem is that many states like Germany partnered up with Russia to do so, while other states were wiser. I wonder if you ever heard that the US imports oil e.g. as well? Plus it would be interesting if the haters of the European countries would agree on one line, are they now crybabies who could easily manage the Ukraine war itself or are they reliant on the US? There seems to be a switch in the argument however it fits.

It looks like the EU, or at least Germany can be a military supplier of the Ukrainians. Good, keep it coming as we hopefully absolve ourselves of this conflict that we have NO interest in being involved in. How is it that a nation that is virtually impenetrable(the US) finds ourselves in conflicts, again and again?

This time, we have to have the stomach to say no.

We have a unique place in the world. The world buys our debt and we use it to defend democracy and keep the peace. Germany could not provide the level of military support that we are providing, and that means that we have an important part to play.

Why should we stay out? Putin and friends want us to stay out because our involvement, such as it is, is their defeat, and they know that. We very much have an interest in supporting friends and allies around the world, lest we lose them to invading mongols. Europe is also much more vulnerable to Russia's tactics than we are, vulnerable to having their democracies subverted, their economies squeezed, their alliances broken apart, to be divided and conquered by Putin's Neo Russian Empire.

And all of this is our problem, how? It sounds very much like a European problem to me. Imagine saying to the framers: You can rebel against the British Crown, gain independence but it's going to be in name only by the time of 1919 as the US will use its resources on behalf of the international community.

You are swapping cause and effect!
NATO did not expand because Russia (allegedly) captured the Baltic States and Poland. And Russia is trying to regain its historical territories, which the United States wants to seize under the NATO flag.

It's our problem if we lose our position in the world. Russia and China are all too happy to project as much power and influence globally as they can, and you want us to be isolationist and let them have it. You don't think we and future generations will end up regretting that?

It's important to maintain a global mindset. No nation is truly an island, nor should we seek to be one. We are a world full of humans who have no choice but to coexist somehow, and unfortunately this stage of our evolution involves power struggles and contests between nation states on a global scale. As with ages past, however, these contests will ultimately be concluded and largely forgotten, their legacy being the power structures that succeed them. For now, we should be sure to maintain our power and influence rather than willingly surrender it to authoritarians.

Well, generally speaking, Russia was originally on the territory where Ukraine is now. And this happened a thousand years before when colonies were formed in Anerica from the United Kingdom

We are not 'projecting' power by interjecting into the European conflict. Tell me, what territory or protectorates or States do we have in Europe? Wait a minute, the answer's none? The same answer as in the failed Afghanistan, Iraq and Vietnam conflicts. We do not have the capacity or the interest to be able to hold these lands that are the mistakes of the European powers or the middle eastern sectarian conflicts.

After failing miserably multiple times, you would think that 'who we are' and the establishment would have an epiphany or something, but no. Instead, the Russo-Ukraine spat will be dragged out, our funds will be in this wasted hellhole and meanwhile our own domestic economy flags behind.

We project power by shoring up our areas of interests. And that for us is our Manifest Destiny and our sea to shining sea. The Monroe Doctrine. Specifically, we must turn our attention to the Asia-Pacific, as that is where we are the most directly vulnerable. Antagonistic powers in that region can substantially affect US States and US protectorates in the region.

American citizens are worth US protection. Not the 'rest of the world'. Or are they so helpless that without the US,Europe cannot sustain herself? We cannot save Europe for the Europeans.

Seems to me that is the very definition of projecting power, actually.

When did you become pro-Kremlin and how and why did it happen?

Yes, thats exactly what Putin has in mind. So the potential victims were looking for NATO protection.

    You contradict yourself.

Our interests should be within our borders. And defending our borders. And not relying on Asian/Pacific shitholes and otherwise.

America first, the rest = last. **** everybody else.

It's not at all a contradiction. While I would love for Asia to self govern like any other region in the world, it is clear that China takes an antagonistic position to us, a position that in addition to its hold on supply chains makes it difficult to simply say 'Hey, keep doing you'. The difference between me and the establishment is seen in this example alone, I would militarily act only on our interests.

And it's in our interests for either a more benign Chinese government, or a substantially weakened Chinese state. If we can accomplish this, the Asian-Pacific will be secure and we will be untouchable from the Pacific to the Atlantic.

    That's ****ing dreamland!!!!

If you want to weaken China, you must re-industrialize the US. There is NO other way.

If you want to weaken the US, keep up with this globetrotting dumbassery.

And tell me, since it's so "clear" that China takes an antagonistic position us.....tell me, what is this non-existent position???? You've got the floor -

Power projection is about how to use power, not just using it(see above.) We have no interests in Europe. That doesn't make me pro-kremlin or pro-Putin. That's just the facts on the ground. Allow me to eludicate even further how our interests diverge from Europe:

As I mentioned, China is the number one openly antagonistic country to the US. Guess who is China's closest ally? Not Russia, no, those two are chilly. It is the aforementioned European Union. During the Trump years, they vastly increased trade and military cooperation with China.

    https://www.eeas.europa.eu/delegations/china/european-union-and-china_en?s=166

Now, as of recent it seems the EU is putting up hot airs on 'decoupling'(I guess it finally got in the heads of Brussels that its a bad look to ask for US cooperation, while buddying up with countries to the US. But as this very thread shows us, I'll see it when I believe it. EU/Chinese policies hadn't been all that different regarding the US(hence the Trump Administration won the WTO settlement with the EU)

And that behavior of the EU is the direct reason why we do not have an interest in Europe. If the EU wants us to fight with them, they're gonna have to give us something. Either 1)Unilateral free trade between US/EU or 2)Admission into the EU, while still retaining US independence.

Give me that, and I'll agree to protect the Europeans, since we'd have skin in the game now.

China's lack of transparency during the coronavirus stands out as example uno recently. Or how about the spy/drone balloon incidents? I also believe there were navy excursions as well. So yeah, China has taken pretty bold steps in recent years. And by your own admission, we have not taken the same kind of steps in turn.

China's failure to condemn North Korea, which had in turn pointed nukes and projectiles towards our ally Japan and the US territories such as Guam/Hawaii. We also have California and the entire Pacific Rim. Home to at least well over 40 million Americans.

There's several financial and military problems with the Chinese. None of this is mentioning the morally deplorable use of slave labor. So yes, we have key issues that must be resolved, and if they aren't resolved they will reach a boiling point.
