Then you aren't looking. And if you DO look...look at the months in which people have died from the pandemic

Your figure for total deaths from all causes for 2020 is wrong. That figure is the total deaths from week ending 1st February 2020. This is the second time I've had to correct this false claim

Ever notice we do this every day? They'll find some nonsense, usually not telling us where they got it because that would be, well, embarrassing.

We then walk them through how it's wrong. They repeat the nonsense, and if it's not something on which they've been thoroughly brainwashed, they eventually give up.

    Until the dawn...

But plenty of cases, and certainly there were people already dying of it in the U.S. before hospitals knew what they were supposed to be looking for.

The problem is that you pretend to know what you are talking about, yet you base your entire arguments on sources that are not 100% certain of what they are dealing with. How do you “trust the science” when the “science” is swearing by incomplete data and guesstimated projections that are never accurate in the long run? Do you often trust dartboard decisions and roulette tables too?

What is causing those deaths though? You can’t accuse me of moving the goal posts when you are kicking the ball wrong.

You are the epitome of cherry picking----only when there is data that supports your theory does the data matter. Lockdowns are also way since over yet you think that is somehow relevant.

There will be excess deaths in 2020 or there won't be. That will include the months you don't like.

Wait...if we are looking at the excess deaths during a pandemic...wouldn't it make sense to look at the actual period of time that those deaths would have been occurring?

I mean we could look at last year if you like too...but people weren't dying of covid last year.

    That would be silly right?

What's "interesting" is how strongly these Trump fans cling to this obviously failed argument

QAnon is strong here...cult like behavior

You are missing the point. You definitely didn’t read the article. If they were discovering COVID-19 infections as early as January, then people were dying from it as early as January. The year starts in January. Your data begins in April. Do we have to spell it out for you too?

If you want to add in those few early deaths fine...add them...but using them to skew an average is dishonest

So asking for accurate data is dishonest now?

QAnon has been very consistent and specific about who they are targeting. From what I have observed of them so far, they don’t seem very interested in COVID-19 statistics. Why are you trying to lump rational folks that are questioning the CDC’s data in with the QAnon folk? That seems dishonest on your part.

    That's actually a valid point.

A British historian, James Burke, did an entire tv series about just that. It was good.

This is also a classic in information theory, the more dire the cirumstances are, the less likely you are to have perfect information, with climatology being a notable exception.

There has been a steep learning curve with this disease, we're still learning. But the rule of thumb is always dance with what you brought.
