My assumption is that any civilization that commands interstellar travel technologies would be able to access the limitless resources of universe while possessing requisite technologies to exploit said resources.

As to the motivations for exploration, it isn't binary. Curiosity, wanderlust, tourism - view the wonders of the galaxy with Starview Space cruises!

And you have a massive reading comprehension issue. Physics didn't predict anything, it's inanimate, man used the science of physics as a tool (invented by man) to theorize the existence of Black Holes.

Apples and oranges. The science of physics was man's invention, that's a historical fact. That it exists on its own does not change the fact that man formulated it.

I never said I did but you certainly don't know very much based on your posts. These are names YOU mentioned and made the ludicrous claim that you compare to these illustrious characters somehow.

    Non sequitur.

Correct but that has nothing to do with your false claim that something is automatically not true unless it's supported by evidence.

    Except I haven't "proposed" anything.

And I never said otherwise nor does it change the fact that for centuries the vast majority believed Earth was flat because there was ZERO evidence to the contrary.

They're lumped together because in your narrow minded world anything you dismiss is "ludicrous", "ridiculous", "imaginary" and "tin foil". If all the scientists you named had your mentality we would still be a stone age type civilization.

Yes you already decided for yourself.

How do you know they're not? Just because you decided they're not?

There is a difference between believing and hypothesizing.

    See above.

And here I stand corrected, I may have used the term theory in lieu of hypothesis.

And I never said you claimed there's no possibility of life elsewhere, ad hom much?

If you're that delusional I'm ok with your delusions.

I don't need to have anything. I never made any claim that Earth has been visited by ETs. Those corroborating claims rest with hundreds or thousands of others you decided were ALL "tin foil" types. Corroborating eyewitness claims are often enough to get suspects convicted in a court of law (rightfully or not). There is also quite a bit of circumstantial evidence that suggests ETs have visited Earth, perhaps for thousands of years. But it's quite ok with me (and irrelevant) if YOU decided for yourself it's all strictly fantasy.

Semantics. The various laws and theories associated with cosmology all produce predictions when the equations are run. Predictions are foundational to the process of their validation.

No the science of physics was discovered by man. Man simply invented tools to explore and explain those discoveries.

Urban myth. It was widely known that the earth was a sphere over 2,000 years ago. It was "common knowledge" in the dark ages despite its perpetuation through out history. The flat earth loonies of today are standing on the shoulders of hundreds of generations of fellow mental midgets.

Not a chance (as you worded your claim).

Physics IS an invented tool used to explore and explain discoveries, among other things, just as mathematics is an invented tool. Everything new can be characterized as "discovered".

It was the reality of the time.

Seems you are unaware of the predictive nature of scientific theories and laws. You are correct that ain't semantics, that is something else entirely.

I see you also are unaware of the difference between a discovery and and an invention. I agree that the math and the technological tools employed by physics are invented. But Physics is the study of energy and matter. Basic building blocks of the universe that pre existed humans.

Perhaps this link will clear up any semantic issues you may have.

No it wasn't the reality of the time. It was widely known that the earth was not flat.

this should clear up your misconception.

all true...we have no way of imaging another intelligent lifeforms thought process, maybe they're curious and have a wunderlust or maybe they're pragmatic and they don't see a practical need for going anywhere

Agreed. OTOH, I would like to think that intellectual curiosity is a primary and necessary component of sapience.

The chances of extra terrestrials coming here to take stuff is about as high as them flying around at night with their lights on in Arizona. In either case whatever people see and think is probably more about their own mindset than anything alien. There is some interesting footage and data concerning visitation but most seems to be Ancient Aliens dreams of little green men.

yup, people see what they want to see, immediately attributing anything they can't explain to fantastical...

the explainable rather ordinary truth is boring, they want the implausible and spectacular.
why look for a mundane explanations like a weather balloon simmering in a sunset when it could be aliens!!!! definitely aliens!!!!!

Unless a whole new physics awaits us that allows machines and intelligent life to travel near the SOL, it is unlikely we will have visitors. Perhaps 50,000 years ago some ET's built a sustainable biosphere spaceship and set sail, using 21st century physics, and they stumble across Earth? In this case they'll just be looking for some clean restrooms, restocking the bar, and downloading some Netflix. Maybe our SETI needs to be re-calibrated but to date we've found nothing! I think intelligent life exists out there somewhere simply for the reason it exists on Earth (except in Washington, DC) and that all them share our same issues with the vast distances and physics of space and time. And I would expect ET's to be very similar to humans again simply because human evolution makes pretty good sense. To answer the OP question; approach ET's very cautiously...

One of the most well informed posters that I have ever ran into on any forum stated that if you see a UFO......."
Russia's Government talks about Release of E.T. data. (Part 2)

On the other hand..... if the Jewish people rebuild their Jerusalem Third Temple I believe that a literal fulfillment of
    Ezekiel 47
will happen and benevolent Watchers / aliens could well be involved:

Why the assumption of peaceful? If left unchecked we are a threat to them, especially if they look at our history. We also tend to view the idea of aliens as somehow being like us in fundamental ways...

If aliens show up here it pretty much means they figured out how to travel at faster than light speed, stay alive for massive amounts of time, etc

Taking a war footing as a starting point would surely be ridiculous.

My assumption comes from very basic logic. IF they fear us because of our history they will simply avoid us...very easy to do.

That and if they were aggressive we would never know before extinction. HeII, one well placed asteroid and our time is up...all they need to do is a mop up.

Most probably, ET psychology will be so alien that we couldn't predict their motivations or understand them.

A person in high position has stated that they could wipe out our planet in an instant if they wanted to.

NASA is said to have used a second secret radio channel to communicate with our astronauts then on the moon. About 100 Ham radio operators around the world supposedly eavesdropped on some startling info. There were aliens watching intently around the rim of the crater where the landing took place. NASA's instructions were to not point the camera at them. We were not welcome there at that time, and no more moon missions were anticipated for a long time thereafter.

Steve Greer thinks that all ETs are benevolent. The various abduction stories paint a different picture. We have good reason to suspect that the deep state would like us to fear an enemy invasion by ETs, and the picture painted by movies is bad enough for us to be wary of a mounting false flag on a scale never seen before. Along that line of thought, it's likely that some UFOs are our back-engineered craft. In some cases, UFO occupants are manufactured beings clothed in artificial skin, as hinted at by Lt. Col. Corso (The Day After Roswell) and others.

Consider the info from McKenna, the Brit who hacked into Defense Intelligence computer systems and saw two folders of space mission photos: One for the public to see, and the other not for the public. He also saw a folder for the pay records of nonterrestrial officers.

FTL travel capability requires manipulation of enormous amounts of energy (although it could easily be extracted if zero-point energy resource is all that feasible). You can't go out there with a chip on your shoulder and do mischief like we do. On the other hand, all lifeforms grow and evolve from primitive states; they don't turn into do-goodies overnight. It seems likely that some alien cultures are still in the process of striving towards the ideal state. If we're lucky, they're beyond our neighborhood.

Why would they fear us? If they can get here, they are superior in just about every way. I don't see your logic in this...

There is no logic that says just because ET's can travel to Earth means they have the weapons to destroy Earth?? Or the intentions? Today Earthlings are capable of building a large biosphere spaceship able to sustain it's occupants and let it set sail into space and 1000's of years from now could actually reach another solar system and possible life yet have no capability to destroy anything...nor intentions...

They wouldn't travel here without first knowing what's here. If they are coming, they will have sent probes, satellites, and who knows what else. Thinking anything else would be naïve. Having no clue what our response to an alien contact would be, they must then be prepared for conflict. Killing every person on Earth wouldn't be as hard as you think, especially if there is no intention of leaving survivors. We've been pretty lucky in terms of avoiding a natural epidemic or virus. We would stand no chance against an engineered one that wasn't intended to leave any humans alive.

We would be stupid to send out any ship with real humans with no known destination and no way to defend themselves. If an alien came across it they might decide to invade and destroy humans for being so stupid in the first place...

that is from the point of view of what we know at this moment, science and those involved change as we learn new things...

for all we know, space travel will be from a projection of our mind, and other than physical being, we may evolve into a species of pure energy without any physical features

other issues I haven't seen in the thread

virus, bacteria and fungus could stop aliens dead in their tracks, literally...this applies to us as well, our bodies are teeming with virus and bacteria that are beneficial to us and others that kill us...but some kill us very quickly...I can't foresee aliens living without a sealed suit at all times... life on earth is constantly evolving/balancing with other life and this has been going on for about 4 billion years, that's a lot of biology for an alien life form to counter...

the air we breath, our atmosphere is breathable for us now, it wasn't always so and we've evolved to survive in this combination of gases, there are gases that will kill us immediately, our atmosphere may have that same effect on an alien

the food we eat, there are foods we eat that are fatal to other animals and vice versa...aliens will be no different

the naturals levels of radiation we live with every day, various lifeforms can withstand different levels of radiation, an alien could be highly resistant or have very little resistance and need constant shielding

any one of those things could be fatal to any alien life form or make it impossible for them to stay for any practical length of time...the same will apply to us on our planned foray to Mars

advanced enough to develope space travel, they'd most likely have considered health safety, and once becoming interstellar, they likely encountered all kinds of issues that could effect their well being, ergo, developed 'vaccines' for all their known baddies and have safety protocols in place for when they encounter something new

vaccines to something they've never encountered and how is that done?...any bacteria or virus they encounter will be unique and they zero resistance to any of them...and there literally a trillion types of bacteria any or all of them could be fatal to an alien life form...and then there millions of viruses ...develop trillions of vaccines to microbes they've never encountered?...they'd need to be magical

microbial life on another solar system could so different what we or aliens are familiar with we couldn't can't even begin to imagine how to cope with them or understand how they function...

this assumption that advanced technologies will routinely deal with any and all obstacles is something from sci-fi imagination and not realistically based on any evidence...it's wishful thinking
