All the hubub over Chik Fil A; It got me to thinking. I don't generally eat fast food anymore, since the diet I require (to keep my blood pressure nice and low) won't allow me any of that sodium. Sometimes though, especially when the wife and I are traveling cross country on the interstate, we hit one of the fast food drive thru's in order that we might stay on schedule. Here is a list of fast food places that we are likely to frequent during such trips, in order of probability, from least likely to most likely: * Five Guys - Never. Incredibly tasty, but unbelievably salty and greasy. * McDonalds - Never. The worst service to be found in fast food. Lazy, lethargic servers abound. * Burger King - Extremely rarely. Mediocre food, greasy steering wheel afterwards. * Jacks or Taco Bell - Rarely. Average food, average service. * Subway - Occasionally. Healthier choices available. * Hardee's, KFC, and Wendy's - A tie. More often. Good food, okay service. * Chik Fil A - Frequently, unless it's a Sunday. The wife really loves their basic chik fil a sandwich, their servers are polite, and the bathrooms are always clean and well attended. I don't really care what their corporate heads think about gay marriage, straight marriage, or marriage between two consenting hamsters. For me, it's all about convenience, good food, and pleasant service. Your thoughts?
Chick's is very good, but I prefer Subway because in general the food is healthier. Mickey's isn't that bad if you get a grilled chicken sandwich without the obligatory bacon and a side salad instead of the (*)(*)(*)(*) fries, and the service depends wildly on the location. Hardy's makes the best mushroom burger in all its decadence and they have a turkey burger substitute that is very good. The BK Lounge is about the same as Mickey's. Wendy's is heart attack heaven as IMO. I've never at at Bell's and don't ever plan to.
A family member took a nutrition course at the college and when he got into fast foods couldn't believe the crap in it - all of them except Subway is healthier. I never was a fast food eater - had it m/b once a yr or so when I'd be on the road and got hungry....
Considered a pro in this area. Macdonalds, best to go around the lunch time rush when the food isn't sitting out but freshly from the grill. Taco Bell, Steak Tacos with sour creme on the side. KFC, gross only black owned corporations know how to make fried chicken. Popeyes again only around lunchtime. Subway, gross. Stale bread, bland veggies. Recommeded. Chipotle is good but the illegal immigrants make hard to order. Their stock is still doing good.
I could say Mc Donalds is bad and it is in most places. But that Mc Donalds in Selma Alabama is superb. The tables were clean, the food was hot, the restrooms were nice. A lot of Mc Donalds all over the country could learn from them. I enjoyed the experience. They even had a lady check the order before we recieved it. And they were fast.
I'm with you on this! They have a great burger!! And the one I go to is fast. Unfortunately its not always conveniently close. When I go to McD's I get the Mighty Kids meal....as ususally that is all I need for lunch.
Yep....I throw them in the back seat and eventually my kids find them......screaming in outrage that I went to McDonalds without them.
That reminds me .... quite awhile ago I saw a before & after pix of McD's fries - months later looking exactly the same. They don't spoil b/c it's not real food.....
Hardees is AWESOME. 'Nuff said. Arby's is good. Neither is in this area, not is Chick-Fil-A. KFC is, but the food is fair and the service varies from bad to dismal. Subway is pretty good...the chicken pizziola (toasted, on Italian herb & cheese bread) is superb. D'Angelo's (sub shop) is very good. Five Guys is superb, but expensive and with a limited choice.
forgot about arbys, curly spicy fries and those chedder and roast beef sandwiches always hit the spot on certain days
Ok, good accurate description, but they don't use real potatoes..... the bugs won't eat the fries anymore than they'll eat margarine that's not a real food. They even put some kind of PLASTIC in margarine.......
I agree. Fast food is absolutely horrible, or at least I personally feel horrible after eating it. I made the choice to give up eating fast food years ago and have never looked back. Many people make the mistake of thinking they are getting healthy meals at some of these restaurants. Subway is a perfect example, their breads are loaded with calories and salt and their meats are higly processed and also contain high levels of fat and salt. If your going to eat somewhat healthy at these restaurants I would recommend getting veggies, no salad dressing or meats, and maybe going with some type of wrap if you absolutely have to have bread. Fast food is really just wasted money and empty calories. Unfortunately, it's getting harder to find healthy food at most restaurants these days (including non-fast food). I support anyones right to eat at one of these places, but when you start having related health problems that drive up the cost of health insurance then you have made it the business of everyone else paying for your treatment.
Fast food is designed to release the harmone dopamine, which excites a patron in the pleasure center of his/her brain. So its very hard to cut it cold turkey after it becomes a habit, similar to sodas, sugar, and anything else with that type of power that the corporations use for repeat clientele. Anyway Macdonalds is like a drug, the Arch sign while driving down the road is like a coke dealer calling to them, and many people just can't give up on their addiction to it. They will cetainly have health problems and have signed a premature death certificate and its the fault of those who profit from these victims of fast food.
Where do they get instant mashed 'potatoes'? That paste is not potato - it's a bunch of crap w/chemicals, perservatives & additives in it.........
