After reading five pages of ObamaHate and ObamaBlame on this topic, nobody, even the well-educated liberals (all two or three) on here got the point.

This man chose to leave the Embassy on his own. After repeatedly being asked "Are you sure????" he confirmed he wanted to leave. So he left. And changed his mind.

Now how is this Obama's fault?

Chen Claims that embassy officials pressured him to leave and had promised to remain with him while he attended the hospital but that they left shortly after arriving. He also claims that his family are now in danger, although I am inclined to believe they were always in danger.

Chen, and his wife and children, his mother and father, his in-laws, and his grandparents are all gone. We will never see them again.

Thanks to The Obama administration's handling of this. They own this.

When a blind dissident in China can call the house of representatives on a cell phone and converse with them, please don't tell me the president has no recourse, or information.

Updated at 7 a.m. ET: BEIJING ~ Blind Chinese social activist Chen Guangcheng began the final leg of his long odyssey to freedom, leaving Beijing Saturday on a flight to the United States.

Early Saturday morning NBC News called Chen at the Beijing hospital where he has been held since leaving the U.S. Embassy on May 2. Chen said he still didn’t know when he was leaving but remained optimistic that it would be soon.

Moments later, NBC News made a second call to Chen, during which a group of Chinese officials were heard entering the room.

One of them was heard telling Chen, “wrap up, you are leaving today.”

I still think we should've stayed out of this, but, it will be interesting to see the response (or lack thereof) to this considering the fact that it completely blows the premise of the OP out of the water...

china couldn't be happier to get rid of him. cost half million just to monitor him and his family. why keep him in china when china can get rid of him by sending him to other country especially is payed by US taxpayer. the guy don't speak english, and didn't graduate from high school. how well do you think a blind non-english speaking person will do in NYU with LAW degree, how long do you think the taxpayer has to pay for his/his family wellfare etc etc. china is probably laughing behind our back now. i rather we use that money spend on an american student who has better english/grade than him. thousands american can't afford college, i think they should get the priority on the financial aid.
