Too much propaganda for me to handle in one bite! Even though I agree that Iran has fought a low-level war with the US for 40 years to help rid the region of American/Israeli hegemony, or at least contain it, you calling the kettle black doesn't help understand what is happening in any of the places where Iran is involved. Iran didn't invade Lebanon; it was Israel that did it and, in the process, find itself with Hezbollah on its borders. Iran didn't unleash civil war on Syria; it was the usual suspects, which then made Iran come to assist its ally, Assad. Iran didn't unleash war on Yemen; it was the Saudis who did that. And it was America's invasion of Iraq, and then changing horses in the middle of its occupation to suddenly befriend the kind of forces it had ostensibly come to defeat in Iraq, that saw ISIS rise and Iran get involved more directly.

Please define "hegemony", then kindly point to such facts that may support your claim of an Israeli hegemony in the Middle East for 40 years.

Funny how everybody and their neighbors' cats complain about the mythical Israeli invasion of Lebanon as the root of all evil, as if history began in 1982. The civil war had been raging in Lebanon for 6-7 years already, courtesy of the PLO.

Contrary to popular beliefs, Hezbollah's goal is not - never was - getting Israel out of Lebanon. Behold, Israel has been out of Lebanon for so many years, yet Hezbollah still foams at the mouth about evil Zionists trying to take over. I'd very much like to hear a logical, well reasoned explanation about how is drug trafficking by Hezbollah in South America linked to protecting Lebanon from Middle Eastern Israel.

Hezbollah is the modern reincarnation of Khomeinist factions active during the Lebanese civil war even before 1979. Nothing to do with Israel, really.

1- Stop reading the "Washington Examiner" and similar sites which take propaganda from the realm of spinning facts and using loaded terms to making up facts and using ridiculous fiction.
2- Hezbollah was formed from Israel's invasion of Lebanon. The is just a fact, not an excuse or explanation regarding anything in Lebanon.
3- Hezbollah played an instrumental role first, in defeating US/Israel plots to set up puppet governments there (the French have also been rather annoying in Lebanon, but that is a different story). And then fought many years until it successfully ended Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon. That is also a fact.
4- Hezbollah then acquired the means to deter further Israeli aggression, with the 2006 war important to make that point. Since then, Hezbollah has acquired an expanded arsenal of weapons. And while Israel has not stopped trying to test Hezbollah, by and large you are right: Lebanon hasn't been experiencing what it used to experience before.
5- Hezbollah fulfills several different roles in Lebanon. First, and foremost, it represents the largest (and most disenfranchised) community in that country, namely the Shia. Second, Hezbollah is part of the axis of resistance, led by Iran. Besides deterring aggression by Israel against Lebanon, their function is also to serve as Iran's long arm to deter any aggression by Israel against Iran itself. Third, Hezbollah serves as an example of what it means for other groups in the region to choose alliance with Iran and an independent path as opposed to serving as any outside power's surrogate. In that regard, its successes aren't just against the Israelis and its immediate enemies; it shakes all the surrogate powers in the region and their sponsors, who hate to see any success by the group attract any new adherents to its cause.
6- Finally, in searching for the meaning of 'hegemony', please don't confuse PNAC failures with intent! The plan for US/Israeli hegemony in the region was to take out Iraq's government, and put one in its place that was subservient to the US. To bring down Hezbollah and make Lebanon subservient to US/Israel. To take out Assad and do the same in Syria. And when all that is done, to go after Iran itself. Having failed for the most, they are now forced to contemplate whether they want to take on Iran without having secured the areas they wanted to first secure or not?

No surprise that the premise of the OP is yet another right wing hoax. When it comes to the subject of Islam, just about everything posted on this forum is a hoax, a complete hate filled fabrication. I wonder if any of these Islamophobes still believe Muslims screamed "F Jesus" or that Muslim teens attacked people with hammers when both stories were proven fabrications in a nationwide hate campaign that is exactly the same as that carried on against Jews in Nazi Germany.

Are you saying the New York Post article linked in the OP:
    1. is a fabrication?
    2. the NYP editor knew it to be a fabrication?
    3. or the NYP itself was deceived, in publishing the article?

Certainly we know S.Arabia is outrageous in its treatment of women, with some young women recently seeking asylum and protection from their own families, in cases well-covered by the media.

And Iran.....if its leaders also read the Koran to the letter instead of the spirit (as all fundamentalists do), then the same sorts of abuses will occur in Iran.

As an aside, and in complete and utter contrast: I just read about the Chandela empire in India (c.9th -12th century AD).

At Khajuraho, the temple sculptures celebrate liberated female sexuality in its most explicit forms (c1000AD).

We are a weird mob....(humans, that is...)

Since you ask, the New York Post is the last place you should look for real news about Iran. Here is what the headline of a recent New York Post editorial board article said:
    https://nypost.com/2019/09/12/netanyahu-exposes-more-of-irans-lies/
So, their editorial board position on Iran is clear. As for this story, it is not a total 'fabrication' but full of omissions, half truths, some big lies and some little ones. Read the messages I have posted in this thread, one by one, and you will get to learn about not just this case, but Iran as well, including issues relating to Islam and other points you need to know. Once you do, then you will be in a position to discuss issues relating to Iran more knowledgeably. Of course, you are under no obligation to do so, but then you aren't obligated to opine about a country you clearly don't know much about either.

NY Post = previously owned by Rupert Merdedoch and now owned by his fellow right wing dupes. Such a shame that a newspaper founded by patriotic Alexander Hamilton should be tainted by such treasonous ownership.

I wouldn't know, but the Wall Street Journal claims that is what the US believes. For my part, ordinarily I would expect Iran to do these things with more discretion, using the Houthis or the Iraqi PMU. But the Americans (or at least the pro Israel lobbyists masquerading as US officials) have apparently concluded the attacks were staged from Iran. I have serious doubts that part is true.

Iran is not shy about expressing its hostility towards Israel either. Iranians should not be surprised therefore that any 'hostilities' they've expressed are not being reciprocated. Kidnapping Americans and others has not been a wise policy. https://www.hrw.org/news/2018/09/26/iran-targeting-dual-citizens-foreigners

Is it your understanding that Muslims are not harming Christians and other non-Muslims? Or that Iran leadership does not wish harm against Israel?

Iranians should stay at home, mind their own business, and improve life for their own citizens rather than seeking to influence any other country. Otherwise it could become another Iraq, which would be a real shame.

Christians have harmed far more Muslims - case in point, terrorist Bush's imperialistic invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan. Muslims are also attacked by Hindus in India and by Chinese. In fact, no other group in this troubled world are more targeted than they are.

The USA should stay at home and mind its business just like our Founders demanded. The world would be at peace if this happened.

The world will never be at peace as long as there is international Islamic terrorism and Islamic Theocracies threatening their neighbors. There have always been dangerous ideologies which want to expand their beliefs over the world and Islamism is just the latest.

Your hero Bush imposed a dictator and created his own rape rooms at Abu Ghraib. Need I post photos to remind you of them? As for Iraq's neighbors, it was your hero who invaded Afghanistan and his military officers rape little Bacha bāzī boys.

Bush is not my hero, he did not impose a dictator and there were no rape rooms at Abu Ghraib. Beliefs, especially Islamic beliefs, are no substitute for knowledge. You probably have no idea why Islam is so closely associated with ignorance and the third world.

Please read media accounts of Bush's imposition of his puppet regime dictators. The rape rooms at Abu Ghraib were examples of crimes against humanity. Islam is the reason why the West advanced during the Dark Ages. Anyone with even the slightest knowledge of Western history knows that for a fact.

This thread is not about George Bush but you can certainly start one. The rape rooms were in Saddam's Iraq and run by his sons, Uday and Quwazy..

Whatever happened in the Dark Ages stays in the Dark Ages but the civilized world, ie the West, is no longer there and it is the rest of the world, including all Islamic countries, which lags far behind. Quit making excuses for yourself, inventing enemies, blaming your problems on others, living on past glories, and get involved in the real world of the now as quickly as possible. Listening to your goofy Imams and other assorted religious fanatics can only lead to serious problems and no one, apart from those who actually believe in the 72 virgins theory, wants that.
