While Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has earned the emphatic praise of many of the nation’s principled conservatives as of late, it’s almost hard to give him credit for doing what should be completely common sense for any elected official.

The Republican governor has kept his state economy alive, he’s protected his citizens’ God-given rights, he's combated radical indoctrination and he’s told violent rioters and thugs they’re not welcome on his turf.

Now, even just five or 10 years ago it wouldn’t be remarkable for a governor to publicly say you shouldn’t hurt people or damage property while protesting, but in 2021, it’s a distinctly partisan move.

Of course, this is the hard left’s problem, not DeSantis’, and any moral leader should be standing up to these ideological tyrants who claim to be fighting for “justice” yet whose tactics are far more reminiscent of the French Revolution than they are the civil rights movement of the 1950s and 60s.

Last week at a news conference, DeSantis doubled down on his emphatic support of law enforcement, bluntly telling violent rioters to stay off his turf.…

Governor De Santis is exactly right! He’s simply using common sense to protect and advance the state. De Santis has done so well on so many issues. He’s a common sense governor who protected his state, it’s economy, and it’s peoples security.

All governors should be doing the things that De Santis is doing. He’s a great American!

I really do wish he had been as tough on anti-maskers and super-spreaders. Going after the left-wing terror groups is great and I applaud him for that but Florida is still at an average of at least 5000 new cases per day and we've lost at least 36,000 of our citizens. The damage that these far-left terrorists can do might be insurmountable when [Democrat run] governments pander to them, support them, fund them, and give them room to destroy but clearly they can be defeated when leaders have the will to do so. The same can be said for COVID and that's why its so disgraceful that Gov DeathSantis intentionally failed the State in this regard. He's going hard to his base and his base is strong in Florida but the opposition can, and probably will, spin this as a Governor who would rather protect property and profits than people.

Because New York, Pennsylvania, and Michigan got so much better results fighting covid than Florida did, right?

Florida has higher counts than all those states.

Their daily increase is highest in country.

He is starting his run for the White House very early. Could be a mistake.

    Yup.

Fighting for the Top Spot on the Nikki Haley ticket if Trump doesn't run in '24.

Not sure she will be on the ticket.

I have to say I find it terribly amusing that not a single Repub will be able to say they are running for POTUS until Trump finally makes up his mind. Never in my lifetime has a single individual held the power over a party that Trump does.

And consider the fact that Florida has a subtropical climate. Which means conditions to spread the virus are immensely less viable than any of those states.

Hopefully he gets re-elected, and hopefully we can oust Evers next year and replace him with a MAGA-aligned governor (IF we can get our election fraud issues under control that put him into the Governor's chair in the first place)...

Nikki Haley will not get my support, nor will any other RINO. The ruse is up. Only MAGA from here on out.

So it looks like you are never voting again.

Trump's MAGA is over, gone, buh bye. It is time to move on my friend.

I've spent a good 30 posts in the COVID section dismantling the pseduo-logic in making State to State comparisons. Aside from near a dozen actually relevant factors such as transportation, demographics, geography, and lifestyle, there are two glaring realities that cannot be overcome with an approach such as the one you just made:
    1. Florida's COIVD data has been repeatedly manipulated by Gov DeathSantis, and
    2. At no point will anyone ever convince me that doing nothing while people get sick and die is acceptable simply because by some other metric a different number of people got sick and died.
Gov DeathSantis has had a lot of good policies during his term, but the massive and intentional failures of his office to not only enact critically necessary COVID mitigation strategies but to active prevent localities from doing so <insert Conservative big government hypocrisy> will not be ignored by Florida voters next year. I will personally see to that to as great an extent as I am able. Now if we could only get a decent candidate to challenge him...

So BLM should just storm the capital and try to overthrow the government, and you’d be fine with it. But HOW DARE THEY loot a target, that is anti American ;)

It is population density, not weather. The largest city in Florida is Jacksonville, with 890,000 over 875 square miles. So just over 1000 people per square mile.

Los Angeles has about 4 million people over 503 square miles. So just under 8000 people per square mile.

New York City has 8.4 million people over 302 square miles. So about 28,000 people per square mile, or 28 times the density of the largest city in Florida.

When you see high per-capita infection and death rates and high positivity rates in areas with relatively low population density, you know it's republican land. No doubt Desantis killed a lot of people unnecessarily with his mindlessness.

Some of places with the highest death rates in the US are the Dakotas [Sturgis], Montana, Nebraska, etc - the middle of nowhere and all trumpy states. Also, Osceola, Florida has one of the highest infection rates in the country. And when you look at places with highest rate in places like California, they are typically rural and republican areas in spite of cities having far higher population densities.

Brazil has their very dictator wannabe similar to Trump.

I love your false equivalence, because Brazil is the perfect model of what the U.S. would look like today if Trump had been re-elected.
