Well, they are two significantly different games, which is why I never understand why Europeans try to compare the two.

Yep. . .and if I remember correctly (from the 4 years I spent in England), there really isn't much "spending," more like a wonderful bond fire with people gathering around.

I did like that tradition a lot! No big deal, no fuss. . .and just the right time of the year to enjoy this MASSIVE bond fire!

Yes. . .I always find it funny when "American football" is called "football," when there is really very little "foot" work involved!
I was raised with the EUROPEAN football. . .where players cannot use their HANDS, but only their feet and their head. . .

I never acquired a taste for that "American football," because it seems to me that there is more "time out" than there is action!

    Boring if you ask me!

Yes. . .and we could use one more!

Quality of life is more important in France than "standing!"

And still. . .productivity is high!

I was raised on Rugby Union and Rugby League (look it up) where less use of the feet is used but still called football.

Some years ago an American exchange teacher tried very hard to introduce American football into my home district, a very strong Rugby League area. Quite a few 'players' showed up, more interested in a curiousity than anything else. A few social games were played. It petered out before the season finished. Players just refused outright to wear helmets and padding, thought them as 'girly'.

Everyone went back to playing Rugby and football (the round ball code).

So I guess you'd have a lot of comercials during a game ;)

Football comes from what the lower classes played. The nobility and rich played games on horseback. The poor peasantry played games that hahahahaha required you to actually use your own feet to move.

I get a lot of housework done during the games. It's a win-win for me.
