I'll wait to see. I seem to recall some of the facts that Well Bonded put out.

I again fault Peterson, even without investigation, for not at least entering the outer portion of the school to seek out children to evacuate. I think it was probably reasonable for the Broward Sheriff guys to think he was in the school, when he told them to hold off.

But I also seem to recall the Broward Sheriff pretty much conceded he fokce the pooch when his guys didn't get organized and begin an immediate search and clear of the school.

Just watched a conversation with the SA of West Palm Beach and while the Broward SA cannot talk about the case the WPB SA detailed how Peterson will be prosecuted.

In Florida SRO's are considered caregivers and in Florida if a caregiver is negligent and that negligence results in a person under his care becoming injured or killed, that person can be prosecuted for his negligent acts.

He also commented that the gross negligence exhibited by Peterson, the day of the shooting is indisputable, given the facts of the case and the stored video evidence, as such he believes if Peterson doesn't take a plea bargain, he will be convicted at the minimum of the 7 negligence charges, each of which could result in a 30 year sentence and $10K fine.

In the mean time Peterson's bail has been set at $110K and he has surrendered his passport.

Yes the caregiver. Never been used for law enforcement and for the record his lawyer feels so positive of winning he is doing it pro bono.

I’ve always wondered how a crime can be so egregious that it could possibly merit a possible 30 sentence but only a $10k fine.

That's very common in unusual cases, if the defense prevails he makes a serious name for himself, if he fails all he has lost is time, now if he is found not guilty doesn't mean Peterson gets off for free, he will still be responsible for thousands in filing fees imposed by the Broward County Clerk of The Courts, all the attorney is doing is providing his time (in criminal about $300 per hour in office and $500 in court.)

Now if his attorney works out a plea, which would be the least expensive way to go, Peterson would still be responsible for any fines and any court costs imposed by the judge.

And then are the pending suites against Peterson in Broward County Circuit Civil.

It's because when those fines where prescribed into law $10K was more than most people made annually and while the Florida Legislature has taken up raising the fee's there has been a lot of pushback from groups representing the poor, so for now that the way it is.

Personally huge fines do not make sense in criminal matters because most of them are never paid.

He had less of a chance of ever being in a fire fight on school grounds compared to his normal duties as a cop. You know the actual odds of a school shooting especially in the suburbs? Very fracking slim. Far less than a traffic stop.

He had body armor. He was trained, so we thought. It was a terrible situation to be in. Teachers died shielded students with their bodies. Other kids held the doors open while students ran through them. If you want to talk about the difference in bravery, there ya go. This guy didn’t do his job. If he had no intention of protecting the school he shouldn’t have been assigned. But he knew it was an easy gig, right up until that day.

I live a couple minutes from the school. This is my neighborhood and knew some parents who lost their kids. It’ll be very hard to prove criminal neglect.

All of the security personnel are stupid for not resigning immediately.

The first responsibility belonged the the security officer assigned to that school who actuslly lived on the school grounds

Yes sheriff israel was a liberal democrst with all the usual incompetence at law enforcement that implies

And he was suspended as a result

But the first responder who failed to respond was most at fault

I still stubbornly believe that the fault resides 99.99% with the shooter.

agree, what is also sad is that now we have to defend him, his actions were despicable, but so is trying to put the man in prison for the rest of his life

'fight or flight' got the better of him

    Totally true.

Israel did a very good job of wrecking the BSO as a law enforcement agency, when he came on board a lot of the upper end brass, with decades of law enforcement experience left the agency, knowing fully well what Israel was going to do to the agency.

He literally backfilled many of those positions with Democrat bundlers with zero law enforcement experience, in turn they having no clue, but a clear mission put the front liners on a tight leash.

The crime numbers had to be lowered to make Israel look good on paper, while at the same time, he needed to keep his promise which got him elected, that being Deputies would no longer ruin the lives of people of color by charging them with felonies.

As a result Deputies who where known for making a lot of arrests of that part of the population found themselves in the spotlight, in addition there was a lot of reclassifying of incidences, armed robberies as longer no one was injured or killed, many times became reclassified of petit theft, the same was applied to strong arm robberies.

The real problem was, street level drug dealing was becoming ignored and the violence resulting from that business and the gangbangers who part of it, literally took over the neighborhoods of those who voted for Israel.

Based on reported data, crime in Broward was going down, in reality it was going through the roof.

Then came Parkland and the entire scheme unraveled.

The shooter was 100% responsible for the injuries and deaths, likewise Peterson was 100% responsible for not doing his sworn duty to protect the public, those children at MSD.

The really sick part about all of this is the collision of a lack of enforcement and the lack of following up on warnings the shooters calls for help, Cruz and his relatives literally issued to both the BSO and the FBI his intentions to commit a school shooting.

Cruz actually put forth on social media he was going to become the "best school shooter" in history.

And that lack of intervention resulted in 17 deaths and the total destruction of Cruz's life.

Now please don't misunderstand what I am stating, what he did was evil and criminal, but as a teenage male raised by a single mother, he understood he had serious problems with violence and he literally understood he needed help and without receiving such, things where going to go really bad.

He sent a number of indications he wanted help, all where ignored, which by being ignored, I believe pushed him further into committing that shooting.

As for Peterson, I personally believe he should live out the reminder of his life in prison, he took the job knowing the risk, he took to the bank every penny of the money from his job, then when it came to carrying out his job, as he was sworn to do, he totally failed a and ran away.

He needs to be made an example of, so other coward LEO's (and their numbers are very small), get the message and find a new job outside of law enforcement, because they do not belong within the Brotherhood of those who actually will do what they agreed to do, when they where sworn in to protect and serve the law abiding.

Guy signed up for the job. He needs to be held liable if he doesnt perform.

No different than a firefighter seeing a big building fire and saying "nah, **** that".

He had a job to do, and he didnt do it, and kids are dead because of it.

If pederson does not go to jail lets hope he at least loses his entire reason for being on the force - a lifetime pension
