https://start.att.net/news/read/art...ing_in_northern_australia-cnn2/category/news+ Wait... I thought the reason we don't see mass shooting in Oz is because of their ban on 'assault weapons'? We're told the gun law in Australia are the reason they don't have mass shootings...? How did Aussie gun laws not prevent this shooting? As I have said innumerable times: Aussie gun laws are not the reason Oz doesn't have as many mass shootings as we do. Let the excuses begin...
At a press conference on Tuesday evening, Police Commissioner Reece Kershaw said the suspect was an individual who was "well-known to police," who had been on parole following his release from prison in January Let us know when you can address the issue put forth in the OP. Thanks
There are plenty of stories about this shooting on the web and each of them say there were plenty of witnesses to it, but so far no name or description has been reported by anyone.
Don't know if you really want to hang your hat on this when the Aussies have about one mass shooting a year and we have one a week - and more people die in ours ... just say'n.
Can't address the issue presented, eh? No worries, mate - I didn't have any expectations to that that effect..
Yeah and we only have 305 million more people and all. Hell Australia isn't even as big as some states population wise.
The issue is you over-blow one incident as if it's indicative of anything but that one incident. You simply don't know if crazy Aussie A was unable to get a gun or not. You are assuming that the laws have not saved lives, but you don't know. I'm not against private ownership of guns. I am against bombastic hyperbole and bumper-sticker logic - which is the foundation of this thread.
You've not looked. BTW, you will be disappointed to find out that he is white and linked to a biker group
As I said: Let the excuses begin. I thought the reason we don't see mass shooting in Oz is because of their ban on 'assault weapons'? We're told the gun law in Australia are the reason they don't have mass shootings...? How did Aussie gun laws not prevent this shooting? Well?
It is cowardly to edit other people's posts. I did not "excuse" anything. I posted that your claim was opinion only, and bombastic rhetoric, and had no basis in fact.
You claimed that Aussie gun laws are not the reason they don't have as many mass shootings as we do. But there is simply no data that supports your claim. You don't know if a gun law has prevented 5 other crazy people from having easy access to guns or not. You have taken one incident and tried to prove a trend. Statistics don't work that way. And why the **** don't you have the courage to post the entirety of someone else's post?
As Aussie gun control laws allow legal access to firearms that are more than capable of being used killing a large number of people in a short period of time, there -must- be -another- reason for the fact they have fewer such shootings than we do -- it -can't- be the gun control laws if the laws allow access to such guns. And, of course, this particular shooting illustrates the failure of Aussie gun control laws to prevent such a shooting, as the shooter could not legally acquire a firearm.
Again, you are making unsupportable conclusions based on ONE incident. You are ASSUMING that everyone who wanted to conduct a mass shooting was able to get a gun, either legally or illegally. Science doesn't work on supposition.
