Berlin's former ambassador to Tehran cites personal reasons for not taking the job, but criticism of Israel might play a role.

Germany, France and UK are trying to launch a barter-based trade system with Iran to help offset the effects of United States sanctions on Tehran.

Bernd Erbel, a 72-year-old former German ambassador to Tehran, told the foreign ministry in Berlin this week that he would not be available to take over the role as Instex chief for "personal reasons".

Erbel's decision follows a report in German tabloid Bild that drew attention to a YouTube interview in which Erbel voiced criticism of Israel and its role in the Middle East and showed sympathy for Iran's ambitions to develop a ballistic missile programme.
    ...
The three EU countries, also known as E3, are trying to set up Instex as a barter-based trade conduit with Iran. In April, Iran established the Special Trade and Finance Institute designed to mirror Instex.

Aha... Mr. Erbel was apparently forced to quit his position as leader of the trade initiative with Iran.

German INSTEX chief ‘forced to resign’ after criticizing Israel

... has been reportedly forced to resign after a German newspaper accused Germany's former ambassador to Tehran of supporting “anti-Semitism,” criticizing Israel and supporting Iran’s missile program.

    'Scandalous interviews'
Nearly a month ago, Erbel gave two interviews to Ken Jebsen, a German television and radio presenter who has already been accused of being an “anti-Semite” and a “Holocaust denier.”

What I don't get is the stupidity by this German official to openly criticize Israel. HE should know better. But it goes to show the power the Jews have over anybody who displeases them.

The idea of a barter system with Iran is fantastic! I hope they will find someone else and be able to implement this system fully. It would not only be helpful to Iran but also to the other 3 European countries who's economies are hurting from US sanctions.

Well obviously there could be another reason but Israel has managed to get Western Governments to equate criticism of Israel with antisemitism. Even Tulsi Gaddard voted to make BDS illegal as she believes to criticise the heinous actions of Israel and Trump with Israel is antisemetic. It just shows how ignorant or hypocritical some people are.

The West is removing free speech and in particular freedom of political opinion. We are moving towards fascism. Obviously Israel was the first there. Trump also seems headed there so that will be the reason Israel loves Trump so much. Both fascist thinkers.

In the UK the extremist Jews who support this as their first Interest is Israel though for some reason they do not want to live there are calling left wing Jews not Jews. That is how bad this situation has become in the UK. Then you have Pompeo telling a jew who visited him and complained about the political views of Corbyn and the fact that he believed the Palestinians should be treated like all other people and after over 50 years be given some rights that should the people of Britain still vote for Corbyn after all the smearing that has been going on he promised to make sure Corbyn would not be able to be PM. He made clear that the US does not believe in democracy or in the rights of nations for their own sovereignty even those who were supposed to be allies and who have sent their young to die for the US.

It is Israel and her CZ Americans who are leading the way to fascism this time. Obviously the Western white Nationalists/fascists still hate Jews., Charlottesville is a good reminder of this. Anyone who does not think that those currently loving Israel will soon be against Western Jews wanting to send them to Israel or worse is either being dishonest or fooling themselves.

Totalitarianism is setting in and in that the first new rule is that it is antisemetic to oppose fascism. Many Jews disagree on this but we are told they are not real Jews.

    The sickness of our times.

There was support in early Zionism for Fascism. Netanyahu's father was secretary to Jabotinsky, However it was Italian fascism not Nazism which they appeared to support.
