Also, only thr Golf, beetle, and GTI are built in Germany.

JD powers gives the Beetle a 3 out of 5
Same with the GTI. And thr golf gets a 2 out of 5.

Volkswagen, average on it's best day

Couldn't find the same rating scale for my car but it got 71 / 100

Essentially the same as the beetle and GTI.

Wir können das auch auf Deutsch versuchen. Du laberst nichts als dummen Müll und denkst du kannst mich beeindrucken aber ich lach nur über dich. Jetzt zisch ab und verpiss dich.

Jap vehicles are the best dollar for dollar vehicles on the market. The idea that you would even attempt to put US crap anywhere other than near bottom is laughable ... perhaps Korea is worse. The whole reason the Japs were able to get a foothold in the market was because US products were garbage. They are a bit better now but ... sorry - German is way better.

I'm not sure i agree. I do however think Subaru is probaby the best auto maker on the planet. I have owned Ford, Nissan and Toyota Trucks. The Fords were far superior both in performance, reliability and capability. The Toyota is the only vehicle i owned that had a major drivetrain failure.

I see no evidence whatsoever that german cars are better than American.

Trucks are a different matter .. The Ford F150 series is pretty good. The Dakota however was a complete lemon. The early Toyota Forrunners were crap.

As I said .. US cars have gotten better but, looking at something like a Honda Civic compared to an equivalent US model in the past .. and even today - there is no comparison. Same with the Rabbit. One would be hard pressed to come up with a US vehicle that compares to an Audi.

Germany is smart and avoids wasting its money on military imperialism. America should follow Germany's example. Unfortunately, too many Americans are indoctrinated into the cult of militarism and nationalism to even consider bringing our military spending in line with the rest of the western world. So we will probably continue on the same ruinous path of profligate military spending that is bankrupting our country and destroying our once vibrant middle class.

I agree. The USA should stop wasting so much money on deploying thousands of troops outside its own borders. Bring the troops home and use that money to strengthen America.

Meanwhile, the USA is crumbling all around us, suffocated by mountains of debt, crippling taxation, and routine corruption. But if pointing your finger at Germany makes you feel better about your own massive failure, who am I to stand in the way?

How is building new highspeed railways not giving it back?

Gosh... that's a hard one.... no actual money getting back into any individual bank accounts... ie, not going back to the people... And crafting the service that then has to artificially compete with actual independence in travel within Germany as opposed to then have to pay the state to ride the train that only goes to a couple destinations... yeah, that sounds exactly like "giving it back"... Laughable.

We have a different way of thinking. I use my car to get around my own state Thüringen. I use the high speed train to reach any other city outside of my state. And it doesnt just go to a couple destinations. Evry city in Germany is connected to the train network. We are not USA, we have infrastructure here.

And yet everywhere the train drops you off, you are then either beholden to that state run taxi system or public transportation once you get to your destination. And while German cities are small in comparison, that still means you get to hoof it a lot. Been there, got a number of t-shirts. And what I would suggest is this, the level of personal autonomy in Germany has never approached that with which you can exercise here in the US. Frankly I'd rather get money in my bank account back.

No, actually not. I´m free to use my car if i want. We have the Autobahn system and streets evrywhere. If i want i can take my car. If i want it comfortable i take the train. If i want go Berlin by car it takes me 5h. If i use the train it takes me two.

I also was in USA. I did not feel it as good there. No infrastructure, bad airports, bad streets, bad mobile net and i prefer i higher standard of infrastructure.

As for freedom...you are not even allowed to drive as fast as you want on your Autobahn system. Thats pathetic. I go 270 km / h on the Autobahn. On your interstates its like crawling along.

Gosh... so many inconsistencies... For example, If I had the choice to drive my S class to get me somewhere, I'd do that every time instead of being crammed onto the sardine can with wheels. Oh, unless it was the Erste Klasse, but that still means that I have to get to the bahnhof, park, or take a taxi, trudge through the urine soaked halls of the station to my platform with all of my luggage, and load, share my ride with 50 or so others in my car, and then detrain, recollect my stuff, trudge it through the station, and find a taxi to where I was going. You might not find that a bad thing, but I can also tell you that most every car I own is preferable to that experience. I also doubt, since you mentioned that your care isn't comfortable that your car is capable then of traveling 270K which is unlikely given the limiters in Germany kick in around 255K (~155 mph)... But hey, why be factual, right? Again, my S class is certainly capable of running at the limiter, but even when I lived in germany, the Staus were endless and you sat in traffic for hours trying to get anywhere some days. Now, not always, but many times. Oh, and don't get me started on those stupid speed cameras on the autobahns that ticketed you if you were doing more than 130Kph.. or 100 kph...

It's like you don't actually live there or something....

    Sardine can with wheels?

You get food served at your table, can sleep and you are faster than car.

Our Autobahn has areas with speed limits, others without speed limit. Autobahn in eastern Germany like the one frunning to Sömmerda are 4 lanes and virtually empty. On the western states of Germany Autobahn are often older and more cramped. A44 is hell. Sometimes i need to take my car to get to Hamm. Its a 3h car drive and i dont like it.

No car allows me to sleep while driving. I had a seminar in Kiel last year. With car that would have been like 7h. 7h where i have to stare on the street, take car about traffic and so on.

With train i was relaxed, arrived there and was all fine. No car ride can give me that experience when i have to drive myself.

I drive a VW Golf VII Clubsport. Its max speed is 250 km/h.

You simply have to realize we have different approach on things. You should learn to respect other cultures. I would not like to live in USA. You like it. I tolerate that but i hated it there (was in Gastonia SC).
