That is Climate Karma in action. Really! Mother nature making a funny. I may seem to be perceived as an anti-green environmentalist but actually I am an ex-tree spiker who was afflicted with age related common sense via earth history much study and logic. Thanks for the great OT and bringing s little levity to the subject.

I know several people who have been to there as tourists. Beautiful things to seen and experience.

Your assumptions are not supported by fact. Tourism in Antarctica is growing to the point of concern for the environmental impact. Your continued assertion regarding the purpose of the trip is blown out of the water by the mission statement. AGW is incidental to the "Adventure Tourism" thrust of the trip replicating Mawson's expedition, and comparing the findings from then, and now. It falls far short of the "pure science" motivation you infer.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tourism_in_Antarctica

    http://www.spiritofmawson.com/

"The Antarctic remains one of the last great unexplored regions on Earth. In spite of a century of discovery, Antarctica and the Southern Ocean remain a unique place to monitor the health of our planet. The Australasian Antarctic Expedition – the AAE – will truly meld science and adventure, repeating century old measurements to discover and communicate the changes taking place in this remote and pristine environment."

ship's mission was research on the effects of climate change in the Antarctic any tourism was simply incidental, nice attempt at deflection though

I think we can say the mission was accomplished.

The environmentalist wackos can report that its getting pretty damn cold up there.

The Antarctic is down, as in near Australia

This is kinda like a couple of global warming women that went near the north pole to prove they were right and got frost bite, and lost several toes. Like all global warming nuts they have been brain washed by radical leftwingers with an agenda.

And it snows and rains in the Sahara desert, therefore it cannot be a desert. Boy but you conservatives are bright. No fooling you, is there?

Nothing worse then getting stuck in ice mid summer to bum out your global warming propaganda trip.

One incident from one university and suddenly ALL climate science on global warming is a scam? That's some reach...and you dare to tell your opponents that they have an agenda!

Nothing worse than right-wing ignorance either.

    Overarching point:

It continues to be inconvenient that the Earth does not cooperate with the global warming agendaists by immobilizing their global warming transportation in ice.

Well...for starters...the global warming climatologist who floated into it during summertime.

    Twice.

Here is a little fact that goes unnoticed. About 80% of global ice in in the Antarctic. It is so cold there that even if global temperatures raised 10 degrees, it still would not melt.

Here is another little fact. As the equator warms, more water is evaporated. That goes to other parts of the world as rain and snow. That is one of the simple temperature regulators the earth has.

Prince Harry went to the South Pole and didn't get stuck in the ice.

Just admit it is funny. Can you go that far, or has the left abandoned humor?

A woman cyclist riding a tadpole trike rode to the South Pole, and didnt get stuck in the ice. She took a shorter steeper route and left two days after two men on regular mountain bikes, and still beat them. Another record for recumbent bikes and trikes.

And yup even if it got 10 degrees warmer at the south pole, the global warming nuts dont have to worry. Ten degrees warmer would mean it still would probably be 20 below zero.

Some people will probably ask why waste money going there to study the effects of climate change ? Simple answer. Back in October NASA announced a new record for sea-ice extent in the Antarctic. No one really knows why but it is just one more nail in the "global" warming coffin. Looking like the global thermostat has more to do with ever changing ocean currents not a few hundred ppm of a trace gas

That's pretty funny. I'm sure they'll just write it off as "extreme" weather conditions being caused by "climate change". But the good news is the climate will soon be stable because less incandescent light bulbs will be available. Yea, that'll fix it.

    As Jackdog said:

Gotta agree with Jack. While tourism there may indeed be up, tourism in the case of this trip was incidental as the article repeatedly mentions the scientific nature and purpose of the people there and only once mentions "tourists" Although I applaud you for actually typing out a couple paragraphs there AND actually respond to a poster without blaming America for everything, first time I think I've seen you do either within memory, K. I must have really hit a nerve.

The irony is compounding, looks like a couple of those tourists were actually media shills for the AGW movement documenting how sea ice is disappearing so no worries libs, the propaganda team is hard at work publishing lies for you to quote. Libs have no shame or sense of morality it seems
