GOP lawmakers demand that 'alarming' memo on FISA abuses be made public

I've said this many times before and I will say it again
This is progressing to the point it is going to make Watergate look like a case of J-Walking
and the liberal media isn't going to be able to ignore it much longer not when we will be having a house cleaning a swamp draining at the FBI and DoJ

 

Oh my god! This is absolutely shocking news! I can't believe the thing in question could occur here in the land of the free. I'm glad that memo was found by our stalwart GOP senators. The American people definitely needed to know what's going on.

I'm sure many people will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for participating in these activites. I'm sure the founding fathers are spinning in their graves at the thought that this could happen!

Hopefully this situation will be resolved and the events in question can never occur again.

 

Had this memo contained bad news for Trump its contents would have already been leaked. The curious part is our transparency loving democrats wanted to keep our congressmen from seeing this. Telling.

Funny they wanted Fusion testimony released and now don’t want the FBI and Justice department documents on surveillance of the Trump camp leaked. My prediction is it’ll be released next week, they have the means to do it through the House. We will also find out who authorized signed for those fisa warrants and what the reason given was. We already know who the Fusion contact with the DOJ was, non other than Mr Ohr and his wife worked for Fusion.

Like I have said all along, I want it all on the table. If Trump or team colluded I want to know the flip side is I want to know why an administration used intelligence services to spy on political opponents. There better be a damn good reason or people need to pay. I can’t tell you how dangerous this overreach of power could be, very very scary for the land of the free.

Why are all you people just starting to bitch about this? This has been disturbing since Bush was president and the republicans rammed the patriot act through that gave us this crap. Back then faux news was all about giving away our freedoms because we had to protect America from the terrorists. They barely objected to this for the eight years Obama and the dems never did anything about it. Now that someone thinks it might have been used on trump you guys are all worried about it? This did not come out of nowhere. The NSA has been collecting this stuff for years based on FISA warrants for investigations that had no crimes attached to them. They got these warrants with no subjects to collect everything and this is all old news.

This is why there should have been legitimate Obama hate. He was not a secret Kenyan Muslim operative. He just let this crap happen on his watch because it was fine Bush started spying on everyone. Do you really think Donnie little hands wants to stop this? No way, he just doesn't want to be caught screwing around with Russian terrorists and criminals because of it. As soon as he is not in trouble he will use the FISA authorised surveillance to gather information on his corporate enemies and destroy them.

Please, thanks for coming to the party right wing. Please do stay around until the patriot act is destroyed and the FISA courts are done. Don't go leaving because Donnie little hands isn't being investigated anymore.

 

I would welcome a return to some kind of transparency but given the power of the Establishment I doubt much will happen. Perhaps a few heads will roll - Oliver North Style - but no checks and balances will be put in to stop further abuse of power.

The majority just backed a renewal of FISA powers with no added protections or significant revisions ... so .. yeah - were ****ed.

You do not seem to get the problem. This is the patriot act. Because the patriot act is in place this was all legal. No one broke any laws because the patriot act authorised this behavior. You cannot get Obama with it because he was just using what was available to him as authorised under Bush and a republican congress to fight against terrorism. There is nothing illegal about these courts because they were made by the patriot act. No one broke the law because we made a law allowing it. We have to get rid of the patriot act and didn't we just renew that under trump? Trump is so stupid he is allowing the patriot act which makes FISA courts and warrants that gathered information that might be used to convict him and his friends.

I agree...... the quotes from three Congressmen I have seen are pretty frightening..... not the normal partisan hype of an issue......seems very different.

 

Usually it’s libs who see nothing and run around with their hair on fire. But it’s a rarity to see cons going over the top saying how much something stinks. The left is probably in a stupor right now, big news just came out and Joe and Mika won’t be able to tell them what to think for another ten hours or so.

 

Do not trust congress to do anything. They have had to renew many of these patriot act things over the years and you will find these shocked congressman have probably voted over and over for this stuff for the past decade. They knew it was there all along. They even got mad a couple of years ago when it was being used by the NSA to spy on them and made provisions preventing that. Yes, the NSA was caught recording congressional conversations based on secret FISA warrants which was why they took the authority away to directly spy on the US government.

Oh, and the US government does not even need a warrant to spy on you because England and Australia can spy on you because you are not their citizens and the US allows them to. Then the US can request that surveillance and information from them as our allies and you cannot defend yourself in court against it. It is made even easier because communication trunks go through each allies countries to allow them to listen in on their sovereign property. It is called the three eyes. Look it up. This is not a conspiracy as it is openly done. It is just considered bad form to use it to expose allies government secrets.

DEEP STATE/DERP STATE: A Bombshell House Intelligence report exposing extensive FISA abuse could lead to the removal of senior government officials.

 

Hold on, Donald trump was not a politician coming into the election. He also was not Obama's opponent. Even Hillary was not SOS at the time to attempt to do that. The spying was done by a republican lead FBI and technically it seems that the spying was not even on trump. It was on the Russians who were tampering and trump and company called them. If the FBI is listening in on the conversations of the head of a criminal syndicate with non FISA warrants done legally through court and Obama, Hillary, or trump call up to order a bit on someone they are ****ed. It does not count as monitoring their communications if they walk in front of someone else's surveillance.

I would expect any president and FBI whether it was trump, Bush, obama, Clinton, or Reagan to investigate and monitor Russian hackers and government agents they thought would interfere with us elections. That is their job. We want Obama and the FBI to act to stop that. If it happens that they caught dumb old trump and his friends and family making deals to mess with our elections while listening to Russian hackers then that is trump stupidity. I am not particularly bothered by those investigations. I don't want the government to have that power, and if it takes trump to take it away then good. However, he got caught breaking the law very stupidly and openly if those allegations are true. We want politicians who trade favors for Russian interference in elections to be caught and sent to jail. If it is Hillary or Obama doing it also then throw them in jail too. Just focus on getting the ones presently in government first.

 

In this area the American public is like asbestos. It is going to take a lot more than a spark to light them on fire regarding FISA and overreaching government surveillance. They have been taught the world is out to get them and we need secret courts to invade our privacy to keep us safe from the mean old terrorists. People have been glad to give over their rights and give government huge authority to invade their homes and take them away in an effort to feel safe from a horror that really is less common than being struck by lightning.

 

Mainstream Media Blackout, of course. Just checked the usual suspects (ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN), and nothing.
