Businesses are having a hard time staffing up. Their former employees are getting unemployment benefits, and many of them don’t want to come back to work until they have to.

 

Um, that's way unemployment works.

 

Thought that was normal. That's what's required in Idaho.

You mean it isn’t that way in every state? Even in California one must apply for at least one replacement job on line or in person and give info about where they applied each week in order to qualify for benefits.

 

It's racist to expect people to look for work while on unemployment. We cannot expect black people to do that!

It used to be required for those on unemployment to show they have been looking for work.

Not sure if that has since changed in Texas.

So when his own order removing the requirement expires at the end of May they will be required to look for work again.

Everytime Trump's Republicans have complained about the ''Don't want to go back to work people'', I shook my head in disbelief due to the fact, compared to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK, and x-many more countries, it was their PROTECTIONIST IMMIGRATION MEASURES that kept our EMPLOYMENT RATE low.

Wait a minute, compared to the U.S., how come more Canadians were working in March despite the fact, they had nation-wide lockdowns and stay-at-home orders?

Seems like slightly misleading presentation of the facts there and the actual news article the OP blog links makes it a little more clear. It seems that this was indeed normal practice in Florida like pretty much everywhere else but that the requirement had been temporarily lifted during the height of the pandemic (and it doesn't say, but that was presumably by the governor too). This change is just about them removing that temporary wavier and returning to normal policies and procedures. That's probably the right thing to do but it is certainly being over played for the purpose of political spin.

Based on your logic regarding an ID for voting I'm pretty accurate. If blacks are incapable of obtaining an ID then how can we expect them to apply for work or do anything else? Filling out an application requires literacy. That's racist! Literacy tests are racist!

The next thin we know the "far right" will expect blacks to work at a job like everybody else.
