You see what you want to see. If Lukashenko fits your story- it is good for you, if not- then you try to twist the facts. But the real fact that the terrorists selected a way that could only bring them to Ukraine and nowhere else, unless they are idiots or suicide guys who wanted to be killed in Belarus.

Bad then for NATO troops. This will be justification for Putin to take back Finland, Poland and all Baltic states to mother Russia.

I would not try to apply common sense to the thought process of IS terrorists, nor to anything coming from Lukashenko or Putin.

I wonder why they would opt to flee toward an active war zone and a heavily controlled and militarized border rather than in any other direction. I doubt the Ukrainians could have given them a corridor even if they had wanted to.

Putin does not think about Russian Federation. He thinks about Russian Empire. Those countries were in Russian Empire, did not you know that?

That's why is must be stopped. He is delusional. Its like Italians demanding the territory of the Roman Empire back.

Can't he just relax with some vodka and makhorka, or maybe even do a little dance

The most important detail is the location where the terrorists were detained. Traffic cameras allowed intelligence services to monitor where they were headed. They were eventually detained on the federal highway M-3 Ukraine – a route which used to connect Russia and Ukraine but lost much of its international importance after the deterioration of relations between the two countries in 2014, and particularly after the start of Russia’s military operation in 2022.

The terrorists were detained after passing the turn to route A240, which leads to Belarus. At that moment, it became obvious that there was only one place where they could be headed: Ukraine.

Yeah, but I'm a little confused. The report I quoted from earlier uses different names for the roads than the report below, although it looks like both are talking about the same place. Are these the same roads just using different names? It wouldn't be surprising. That happens here in the US often that the same road may be called different names.

For the time being, the only evidence connecting the four shooters to the Ukraine is the direction they were taking when their vehicle was stopped by the security forces. In a shootout the car overturned, and three of the gunmen fled into the forest beside the road, leaving one man injured in the car.

The head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Alexander Khinshtein, is the source for press reporting on the site of the interception. That was on Highway E101 about seven kilometres south of the P-120 intersection east of Bryansk city. From Bastrykin’s report, and from an award ceremony in Bryansk on Monday for the forces who made the capture – Federal Security Service (FSB), Interior Ministry, National Guard, and border forces of the Defense Ministry — the getaway was being tracked for some time before it reached the P-120 intersection. At that point, if the four men planned to head for Belarus, they would have turned right, followed the south circular road around Bryansk, and then turned left on to the A-240 towards the Belarus border, about 100 kms to the southwest.

Instead, the men drove due south and on the highway near Khatsun, they were about 100 kms from the Ukraine border. There have been reports they were expecting to make a rendezvous with accomplices they believed would guide them to safety over the Ukraine border, and to payday. Or, as Moscow sources speculate, to their execution by the Ukrainians.
