To be fair, would they have preferred we not come there, kill most of them with disease, and conquer their countries? Yes. But did we bring things they ultimately did value such as what you describe? Yes. At the end of the day though, it was simply inevitable. We had the technology well ahead of a sense of moral decency. Maybe next time if we did space travel and found a planet with primitive people we wouldn't enslave and exploit them... maybe. But what's in the past... that far in the past... is in the past. Time to move on.

People of all colours and many nationalities built THE USA including thousands of Chinese who built your railroads, Basques and Norwegians who farmed the prairies you stole, Italians who created trade and the service industry, and Jews who found refuge and financial security there. Violence and genocide and slavery existed in the Asians that migrated here later to be called American Indians. Where the Pilgrams and other settlers first settled were mostly wilderness with no claims by anyone. Tribes were migratory and American was open country.

Don't you think it would be wise to ask THEM instead of insisting on our belief system? Maybe they have a spirit that is about ancestor worship and if so it could be a big deal for them as to how their ancestors were treated. Considering ancestor worship in whether we give somebody reparations is definitely postmodernism. It's one thing to make sure you have all the facts in making a determination. It's another to treat their religion as factual just because they believe it.
