    Seriously,

How many of you have been immediately told that you just
    responded to a post.

How many have been notified that you just liked a post.

This happens about 3 seconds after I reply or like a post.

What is the purpose of this? Are we supposed to be so
stupid that we don't know that we responded or likes a post
    some 3 seconds ago?

Does anyone know what the purpose of this is? Seriously.
So far nobody has provided a reasonable response. What
is the purpose of this redundancy?

In the meantime I know that I just replied to a post. Not only
that I know that I just liked a post

I've noticed it sometimes tells me when I quoted someone and sometimes it doesn't.

Are you sure that the notification was for your response?

Response messages are all on the same tab - both your replies and other people's replies to your messages are listed. If someone else replies to your post while you are replying to someone else's post, you will sometimes get a reply notification that looks like it is for your reply. It is actually for the second reply down - the one another member made to one of your posts. The same can happen for 'like' notifications.

I had this happen to me a few times before I realized what was going on.

It happens to me. I think it must be a setting somewhere if its only happening to some people. I don't mind it myself because it makes it easier to track which conversations are worth keeping up if I can see both my and other people's quotes.

Are you sure that the notification was for that post and not the next one down on the list?

    I'm wondering...

What settings do members of PF use for notifications? I seem to be
the only member receiving notifications of my own posts and likes.

I'd like to know what your settings are.

I'd like to be notified ONLY when someone replies to a thread I'm
subscribed to, not just my posts, and when I receive a like.

I used to think it was notifying me of my own responses as well but then I realized that it was actually notifying me of the response below it. People sometimes respond very quickly to another thread and it appears as though your notification bar is talking about you.

Do you mean that when I get a notification that says I just quoted "so
and so" about dogs I should ignore it and go the next notification that
say's "so and so" just quoted prunepicker about cats even though they
    aren't related threads?

    I don't get it.

yeah pretty much. For example I just quoted somebody in a thread and right when I clicked out of it it notified me that I had a notification that I just quoted somebody but you happened to quote me in this thread around the same time so it looked like my notification thing was saying I quoted somebody when in reality it was saying that you were quoting me underneath.

Maybe the admins should remove our own quotes from the notification setting to avoid confusion. Or is that an option in our own settings?

Yes! I've been a member on other forums that use the same software
    and I've not experienced this.

Any idea why I have 1,264 unread posts? Where are they? At one
    time it was over 4,000.

I believe those are the culmination of every single post on this forum that you haven't read since the last time you logged on here not just the particular threads in which you respond.

Yes. I also get notifications of my own posts and likes. It's a minor nuisance.

I sometimes get notification someone responded to one of my posts and then it takes me to a post that is not a response to my post but someone else's. I assume this is some glitch in the multi-quote system if someone clicks reply but then backspaces out of it and then clicks on someone else's quote to reply to
