Hi little voice. I am very interested in why you support the democratic party and identify as a liberal when many people in your age group are conservative. I am a little over half your age and have never identified with liberals even as a child so I am curious as to what formed your political stance. Is it one issue?, many issues? and are you fiscally conservative or not?
    Thanks

Remember I spent most of my childhood during the depression
And the first I read about politics was the policies of Calvin Coolidge
    Smaller government
    Lower taxes
Solution during the 1927 and 28 recession
This regulations on business and government get out of the way Sound familiar
If you read president kennedy's acceptance speech for the presidential nomination of the liberal party
    The best expressed my feeling.

Thanks for posting that Little Voice. I think my issue is that a 1960s liberal definition no longer fits todays definition of a liberal. In this very speech he cites the fruits of immigrants. A 1960s liberal did not have to define that those immigrants came here legally, it was assumed they would enter legally and become US citizens. I do not think a 1960s liberal would agree with what is happening in our country today.
My analogy to best illustrate this is:
1960s liberal = "ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country"
todays liberal = "ask not what you can do for your country but what your country can do for you"....and then some.

Today's conservative = demean the government at every turn, let the wealthy run the country and do their bidding for them, and never mind about being conservative, i.e. George W. Bush.

It is sad how far the Democrats of today have strayed from JFKs positions, such as:

It seems that the modern party really keeps trying to do exactly the opposite.

Oh, well. Your responses make me really interested in what you will have to say on these forums. Welcome.

I thought this was an introduction thread and no need to bring politics into it, as it could get nasty, something that is frowned upon. But, what do I know.
