I have been around since FDR, and I have witnessed much. I am a life long democrat who has lived amicably with my republican neighbors. We buy our furniture, appliances, and clothes from the same stores. Our food is purchased from the same grocers. Our children go to the same schools. We go to the same churches. We attend the same football, baseball, and soccer games. When our athletes compete in international events we all cheer for them. When don't tread on me is ignored we are united in opposition to the offending entity. With all of these things we have in common as democrats and republicans since when have we become so polarized and angry that we can't talk to each other without employing verbal grenades and mean spirited vitriol? What in the hell has happened to us?

We had a President that won an election by praying on a part of the population that has had a hard time adapting to change.
He created a narrative that made it popular to blame others for problems.

And you choose to be part of the problem rather than the solution. That or you refuse to see the forest because of all the trees in your way. As little as 20 years ago I could sit down and hold and honest debate with most Democrats. We pretty much agreed with what the problems in this country were though we often disagreed with what the solution for those problems were. Leftist are people, however, who aren't interested in any sort of debate about anything at all. As far as they are concerned if you don't agree with them about anything you are an evil sob who ought to be beaten until you do agree with them about anything. Even now they aren't even close to the majority of Democrats let alone the American people, but they do hold significant numbers of top positions within the federal government.

Leftists will sacrifice civility and decency for the purity of their sick beliefs every time. I mean if a leftist like Ocasio Cortez suspected her mother voted for Trump there would be blood. Metaphorically speaking of course.

Hey, looks like a nice night to go out and fire industrial sized fireworks at police doing their jobs.

Our economic policy over the past four decades has many feeling vulnerable and insecure and angry.

In my opinion a valid emotional response to what has occurred. Unfortunately, rather than offering guidance to fashion a rational response bad actors have taken advantage of this situation.

We’ve got to get back to one common set of facts and start acting rationally to
    redress our grievances.

    Well yes and no.
The problems with disenchanted people are very complicated.
But yes we had a bad President that used these problems to gain his Presidency and in so doing drove the divide between the people.

You mean the most successful President in 100 years but thwarted by special interests that have control of government. Why do you think Wall Street and the Chamber of Commerce support Biden? The cash cow of cheap labor and globalism will be protected and the Congress critters that profit off of it all have a stake, both republican and democrats. For Gods sake WAKE UP.

OP, the above is a prime example of why we are divided. Did I insult him? Hell, I was not even talking to him and he feels the need to resort to childish insults. Many on the left are the same way.

Democrats of the past were nationalists. Pro American. Democrats of today, not you, think America is the problem and think America needs to be taken down a notch.
